capes/cloaks, they are comfy as fuck and the ultimate in drapey clothing, but destroyed by being the most autistic thing ever.

If ponchos as rain wear became more popular I could see people getting brave enough to do cloaks and capes.
>>
>>9240935
Trench coats?

I think they were a nice fad when they were being warn by artistic highschool girls in 2010 who liked ripped jeans and combat boots, and by "poetic types" as raincoats the year after, back when they were a new thing and people made a big deal out of "why are you wearing a trench coat lol people don't wear those"

It feels so surreal to walk down town and see neckbeards wearing them obviously struggling to look cool, which pretty much started the year later (where I live anyway). Then they started marketing them to moms and men with mid-life crises and they became normal after that.

I know a 50 year old who got one to look "edgy again" and proceeds to wear it as a house coat.

When I see them I think they're pleb wear, things people throw on top of mediocre and miscellaneous outfits thinking they automatically escalate them to the height of trendy but haven't realized that not only do the super-mainstreamers think they look retarded but also the fashion conscious who know they're five years behind.

Idk. If you're young enough I think an interesting colour or pattern and a well coordinated over-all outfit can save it, and of course if you're really attractive. But. Meh.

>>9241198
Loved this shit since I was literally 14. Still never seen them in stores. Not that I'd buy, let alone wear, one.
>>
>>9241198
They are only slightly popular on girls and old women. Guys wearing ponchos will get instant ridicule. Like a lot of things. Damn privileged women.

dark to light stonewash jeans, 100% cotton for that sick texture, no distressing

they're expensive as fuck now
only obscure designers make them
>>
>>9241278
I remember a few years back seeing someone claim that Barbour and Dr. Martens were girl's clothes. They were not aware that those companies made clothing for men.
>>
>>9241234

>>9241234

I just spent a lot of time in airports across Scandinavia, pretty much everyone had a fantastic sense of fashion and dressed like they were going out to ma fucking fashion shoot. I saw plenty of trench coats, which is basically a fucking petticoat.

Thinking that trench coats are only a suitable choice for "muh edgy teens and artsy grills" just makes you sound like a fucking moron who follows trends and fancies themselves as having good taste while anally masturbating.
>>
>>9241286
patrick isn't an obscure designer
>>
>>9241325
>Dr. Martens
They are traditionally male boots, but teenage girls have appropriated them.

You poor, poor, Americans.

(liberal arts student canadian ftw - i can make out with a bro in public wearing pink chicken-leg skinny jeans and still get hit on my girls hoping I'm bi, i can say i'm "mostly straight" and 90% of people will buy it; and if anyone says shit about it they'll get jumped between classes. though i have to admit wearing Martin's into the old lady dominated side of town is... a little embarrassing)

>>
>>9241278
So you're unattractive?
>>
>>9241278
>>9243462

I think unattractive, and otherwise, woman have a hard time pulling this off too. If they're middle aged it looks gaudy and ridiculous, if they're young it looks like they're trying to hard.

The majority of the population is literally unattractive, so there's no shame in that. You've just got to compliment the feature's you've got even if that means giving up some of the obscurer trends.
>>
>>9241641
I think he looks very stylish for a teenager
>>
>>9243462
doesn't have much to do with it.
women can wear skirts and pants. men can only wear pants. women just have a lot more freedom in fashion. they can go fully dressed in male attitude and still pull it off. even wearing a scarf as a guy can get you dirty looks.
>>
>>9243592
*male attire
>>
Everything will eventually the only argument is how soon
>>
>>9243592

how on earth do you get dirty looks for wearing a scarf

seriously asking... what else do you wear to keep your neck/upper chest warm in winter if you're wearing a blazer-like jacket (anything with a V leaving that area vulnerable to cold)

everyone wears scarves...

i can confirm this. I live in texas and basically every "man" wears shorts, sneakers and a shirt, if its cold then they may wear a sweater or jacket as well. Anyone else is seen as "hipster, gay, metro"
>>
>>9243718
>everyone wears scarves...
not here they don't. people are extremely judgmental and closed minded. they've thrown guys in a pond for being 'gay'.
yes, I live in a shit neighborhood.

Trench coats aren't 'five years behind', you syndrome. They've been a staple for decades.
>>
>>9245563
Maybe you could make that case for women's wear but I would argue they're far from a staple for men. Closer to costume than staple.
