Get on that breuer,

or sum Rohe.
It's a bit of a time consuming hobby but you can outswift dealers quite easily and get some period replicas for absolute peanuts. I myself just got an original knoll for the cost of 30km in gas. That's the good shit.

How can anyone stoop so low?
>>
>>9187131
replicas are everywhere, $800 chair for $50, same asthetic
>>
>>9186678
i picked up the hobby of restoring the real ones of these a few years ago. my living space has a shit load of the original furniture most people seem to overlook heh

with that said i have 6 of the fiberglass originals, in black and white
>>
>>9187131
It's more about the licensing of a design often nearly 50-80 years old. In this contact replica doesn't mean flag 2 big or wonky toebox.
>>
>>9187175
the mounts a weak and the fake legs don't last quite as long

the only replica's i could even begin to suggest are the modernica ones

but i wouldn't even do that tbh

the licensed ones by HM are eh nowadays PTFE i would also stay away from the baltic birch veneer ones

these are super cool, but only fools would pay for an original

look for cheapo knock-offs, they still look sharp
>>
>>9187201
post plz!

There is a breuer chair in the studio and some fucking dick poked the leather with a pencil
>>
>>9187201
I'd love me a fiberglass one but they are pretty hard to come by. All i seem to find is post-70's molded plastic.
>>
>>9187213
>but only fools would pay for an original

this is what poor stupid people say...
originals are getting hard to find and are a chore to restore

going out to ikea and finding something vaguely modern-ish is about as plebian as dressing up in black H&M women's clothing
>>
>>9187229
the upholstered, H base chairs are almost always fiberglass underneath

i've taken 5-6 of them and sanded them down + sealed them in the past
>>
Antique furniture is the only correct answer.
>>
>>9187255
buying old shit that is chipendale-esque, 1940's-1980's revival, just because it's old is not /fa/ no matter how many old people tell you it is
>>
can anybody recommend really minimalist style chairs?
>>
>>9187131
Because the orignal costs a lot. The replica is a lot cheaper

Hmm, perhaps it because you'd mostly find Vitra's opposed to HM, and rarely modernica.
>>
>>9187913
*over here.

Might have a dab at stripping one down. Cheers mate.
>>
>>9187913
makes sense.

i rarely see older vitra this side of the ocean, unless it's clearly from DWR in LA. but you can tell it's not original HM just by looking at it even before you flip it over and look for the stamp.

modernica is fairly new to the scene since they strictly do reproductions since HM moved to plastic and veneer only

which is why they're famous

but they're good for repops, i use their bases on occasion even though they don't have the right zinc process

but chrome looks better for new fags
>>
>>9187937
What about reproduction bases (other than modernica) ? On the odd chance you find a HM/Vitra fiberglass shell it's almost always paired with a plain black steel frame.

I've seen a fair few on .com around the 100/200 usd mark, but what are they generally like. Better than getting old ones galvanized?
>>
>>9187937

At least Modernica Eiffel bases are still skinny, modern HM & Vitra look way too wide.

Modernica is one of the very few replica's I can bear, they at least strive to make something that's adhering way more to the original design then HM & Vitra.

Price is high though, you can get vintage HM for the same bucks.

Does anyone know what this chair is called, and possibly w2c?
>>
>>9187233
only an idiot would spend three grand on a fucking glorified lawn chair, i don't care how rich you are
>>
>>9189434
Don't recognize it but it looks like a bit of everything. Bit of Corbusier, bit of Rohe, bit of Gray.
>>
>>9189550
I'd like to think that it has some more merit in the grand scheme of things than being a snazzy place to rest your arse.

Eye of the beholder though and all that.
