why? it just looks so stupid and tryhard. why don't you just start with a nice pair of raws (i recommend naked and famous for the best quality and also a good price) some nice red wings boots, a few high quality flannels from banana republic or jcrew, a nice parka from carhartt and a few fitted t-shirts (not loose, it looks horrible, tight is better but only if you are fit)

I was in the same predicament as you and ended up buying the Tobias a couple weeks ago. I think they are okay and pretty comfortable with not a lot of break in, but after seeing all the 1460s on sale today I have some pretty heavy buyers remorse, The leather is meh I would agree. if you like the look of them over a high top shoe go ahead and cop, but if you want more of a boot, again 1460 would be my personal choice.
