A lot of people on /fa/ don't do that basics well, so they cover their lack of taste by going all out with geobaskets and crazy layering to cover up small problems like a bad fit here, or a bad color there. What's interesting is that people are giving you hate OP for this thread. But a lot of people liked this guys fits that you posted.
I think it's sad that people think a t-shirt, black jeans, and shoes aren't incredibly interesting to look at. In my opinion, if something simple looks as good as something complex, it's a much bigger feat on the part of the simple outfit, and much more can be learned from it.
