A lot of anime fits are just random colorful pieces stacked (1 is the worst offender) in a really bad way.

Mushishi is actually my favorite anime. It's extremely mellow, and perhaps best enjoyed at night, before bed. I'd only watch one episode at a time, too - as it will let you appreciate each stand-alone episode more (this is what I did).
