What's some good music for a fashion show? My girlfriend is a fashion graduate and she's showing off a collection later this week. I thought I'd ask you guys instead of /mu/ because you're usually better to be honest.
Some stuff I've shown her already that she likes

that sort of speed, preferably with a good intro

Techno or deep house

thanks for reposting this picture. I remember tripskank once explaining it away by saying that the nightclub who reposted the picture did the shooping. It was pathetic.
anyways, i would play death grips or yung lean. but it really depends on what kind of fashion she is showing
>>8491072
Yeah, i should've said i was p vague.
it's a f/w collection and she's using french maids as inspiration, she says, but more on the working aspect and not so glamorous, but also strong feminine touches.
she wants something quite slow - she would definitely not approve of me putting on black quarterback
tripskank is still one of my favourite trips just because of shit like this

If you play anything else, they'll know you're a fuccboi.
should be something mostly instrumental and faster than the ones you posted.
I'm partial to French house.

In July 2008, Justice was revealed to have done a mix for the Dior Homme Summer 2009 Fashion Show, much like Daft Punk did for Louis Vuitton in 2007.[26] The track, now known as Planisphere, was released in four parts on the band's MySpace page, with an extra final cut that did not make it into the fashion show mix (known as "Planisphere IV", or "Planisphere Final").

Really outdated sound, kind of slow, the melody is a rip-off from Abba and it plays the entire song
4/10

>tripskank is still one of my favourite trips just because of shit like this
definitely
also I think the modification was a little misunderstood: she was trying to create a bigger contrast between bust and waist, not just blow up the tits. still endearingly pathetic but not as much "I want men to like me" as "I want my figure to look better in this photo"
anything off this amazing mixtape

PJ Harvey is the perfect match for her, just sayin. Listen to White Chalk and pick any song other than "When Under Ether" since Ann D already used it

this shit's the wrong kind of edginess. except maybe julia holter. but I might just be saying that because I love her work
you don't want the show to sound like it wants to be edgy. either it's naturally edgy or it isn't. imo
another thing to keep in mind is that the context will fundamentally change how the music is heard. Don't think too hard about making the music cool in the same way the clothing is, or having them 'match' -- think about the show holistically. be somewhat playful about it: what happens if you pair avant garde and country music? Don't forget that you can use music as a way to take the garments out of their typical context; avoid pigeonholing your aesthetic by matching the music too closely to the style of the clothing.
an example of what I mean: "futuristic" gets thrown a lot when people talk about Sruli Recht, but he picks really humanizing, soft music to accompany it in runway shows. He's more likely to pair his clothing with sigur ros than autechre. it forces you to see his clothing in a multifaceted way.
here are a few songs I find cool

try to figure out ahead of time what kind of access she'll have to bass
if this is playing on a little stereo maybe don't aim for tracks that are carried by bass elements
>doing art project
>having people from the internet choose her art
What's the point?
>>8491878
this is interesting, thanks.
it won't be on a stereo, there will be a good quality amp and speakers
>>8491889
art can be a collaborative project
we're not deciding for her, she's using us as a resource for ideas
nothing wrong with that
>>8491058
>Wants music input for fashion show, but doesn't show the clothes or concept
>Doesn't want to be humilated by gf's ugly clothes
>lol
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2ejQgFxD5g
dior used this 1nce
>>8491058
It depends on the concept of the show mate. What's the vibe going to be?
>>8492263
Yeah, sorry. I just read it. Idk what could go well with "french maids". Let me think...
Ok, first thoughts were some french electro.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUNS6xU-kt0
I think this could do for a fashion show. Not too risky.
Neil Barrett ss15 that shit son
>>8491072
I'd sink balls-deep into tripsk on the daily.
OP, don't choose music that sounds like "fashion show music"; choose music that reflects the mood and influences of the collection.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMo04NdMuzA
>>8491058
well, it really depends on the style
i.e.
Hedi uses indie rock and other subgenre of rock because he wants to achieve that rocker look
Rick uses industrial ambience because he´s one edgy motherfucker
Moschino uses shit music cuz its shit
Dior Haute Couture uses electro ambience because they want to achieve a exclusive elegant style
you know what i mean? show some fits from her portfolio, i can help
>MFW i have an effay Spotify playlist
