I would lose all hope in /fa and the taste of it's denizens, however the weakness of these blogs in concept and application is probably due to wider systemic factors.
The sedentary scrolling lifestyle now means we less and less access content with semantic depth. We scroll past, stop and click "like" with no thought to the process, the context, the ideas or emotions the images were created with or convey.
We are left with (similarly to japans youth culture) a "superflat" purely aesthetic differentiation. Superfluous and superficial, even then when image is everything why do we continue to not think about image in wider context?
The jogging and other "internet 2.0" artists attempt to satirise this phenomena but actually refuel the self-congratulatory generation y culture that robs creativity and increasingly moves towards the a generic globalised youth culture with no grassroots.
Generation Y is without true subculture. The ones that do exist I imagine survive only due to having no online presence.
