I know these threads are usually the same shit over and over, but every other type of thread is too. Here are some vans i dyed with tea. i like how they turned out. pretty much turned them into worn in looking vans without wearing them.

Can I have details on what method you used to do this? I have all white sk8 his I would like to do this too.
>>
>>8419223
Post pic sounds cool. How did you tapers?
>>
>>8419247
i just got the cheapest black tea the grocery store had. i boiled a large pot of water big enough to fit both shoes in. put 5 or 6 teabags in and boiled it for a few minutes until it was really dark. i rinsed the shoes with tap water and put them in the pot and then removed the pot from the element and let the shoes soak in the hot tea for an hour and a half. then i removed the shoes, rinsed them with cold water and let them dry.

i'm not sure what caused the browner areas. they appeared over the course of drying. when i took them out of the tea they were a solid tan color.

you bought the true white vans right?

I have those and they look shit pure white. any other way to tastefully discolor it without tea?
>>
Only problem is that you can see the water level stains, if it was more distributed and "even" it'd look better, but it's good nonetheless.

Anyone know any DIY methods for yellowing a white sole faster other than walking around alot or going out in the mud rain?

>>8420068
theyre great. the material is really nice. like almost iridescent in person. theyre pretty stiff when theyre new. similar to breaking in raw denim. they fit really well on me. definitely slimmer than on any pic i've seen of people wearing them. i'd size down on them though. they fit really generous in the waist. i have to wear a belt with the smallest size they make.

Looks nice OP! I just hate that bright white new shoes effect in the bottom of your eyes when your walking :')

I usually take a piece of dried mud en scrape that over the side of new white soles.. the texture kinda absorbs the dust/sand. Looks a bit like you fastforwarded walking 2 weeks

for the boots i used black shoe grease and a shoe brush, i applied the grease on the boot and then heated it with a lighter but without burning the leather, then i quicly brush it off, the grease stays there, the bad thing is that when they leather gets scratched you can see the original colour of the leather

for the jeans i just sewed them from the groin seam and then gradually making them narrower following a very long curve until the knee, then staright from the knee, you have to unstitch the cuff and then sew it again once you´re done with the leg

i might make an infographic on it when i have enough time and some jeans to taper

Is there a way to paint the stitching of these sneakers black? Minding the fact that they're leather, not canvas? I'm worried about fucking up the leather in the process.

your post made me realize how this board is missing guides for DIY clothes. as someone who wants to get into clothing design, i dont know where else i could learn, besides going to a trade school.
>>
>>8426322
yeah pretty much. might just bin em
>>
>>8419158
you just ruined some nice vans
>>
>>8426377
Oh I get it. But you didn't actually take clothing with the geometric print on it, cut it up and stitch it on did you? It doesn't look completely the same as the geometric print on the drkshdw stuff, so where did you get it?
>>
Would cutting the stamp of a t-shirt and sewing it on a hoodie/jacket be ok? I'm thinking of cutting a old joy division shirt and sewing it on some AA hoodie.
>>
>>8427541
try it, but wearing anything joy division related on your clothing is pathetically tumblr core. its the type of thing people will be laughing behind your back at if you go into any moderately hip neighborhood
>>
>>8427554
i like post-punk, and the dark feel of it. also, undercover's joy division collection was pretty awesome
>>
>>8427562
i like post punk too. i also like joy division. im just saying that there joy division has a stigma of being a common thing for dilettantes to pretend to like. and about undercover. that is different because of it being a japanese company. they just did a psychocandy collection which is right up there with entry level tumblr core people.

but its kindof like supreme. if you wear it in the us, there is alot of stigma of being a follower or fake fashion fan, whereas in japan nobody cares about odd future or swagfags

p-p-please respond (>>8427491)
>>

if you wnat the pic then you are going to have to dye the rest of the shirt white. bleach will NEVER come out as white. a white at most.they probably ombry beached it then dyed the rest with white
yours still look good tho
>>
>>8432311
>>8432318

My understanding is that black tees aren't made using white fabric, but orange or yellow. I've done similar bleach dips on black tees and I get similar colors. You could try getting white tees and dying them darker if you want more contrast.

Can I make alternations to my clothes using thread and needle or do I need a sewing machine?

technically you can, but it will take a fuckload of time to finish a seam. you're better off with a sewing machine if you plan to do several adjustments.

darker areas appeared like tide marks. Kinda like how salty water drying on cloth makes more pronounced discoloration near the edges.
