Merino wool =/= merino wool, it's an unprotected label in many countries, and just denotes an entire breed. Besides the name markup, Hermes will have taken care to find the softest Merino wool because people expect them to, then the weave, die and stitching also have to be of a ridiculous quality, just look close up, it's exposed and the stitching ins painfully good.
Is it worth 3K? For most people it's vastly overpriced and not worth it.
