The problem with everything outside of their permanent collection is that a lot of it is very...garish? It lacks the muted tones and refined silhouettes of the earlier stuff for a more experimental vibe I feel, but ultimately, I feel they miss the mark more often than the hit it, despite being a big fan of the brand, because their permanent collection is quite literally timeless.

Personally I think that the RTW is the real look of the brand and the permanent collection pieces should be seen as accessories to it. Most people seem to think of it the other way around, ie a subdued fit with 1 statement piece.
That's not to say I like seeing new money fobs in head to toe statement pieces, but you still need to have the attitude coming through. It's a fine line for sure.

Pic related is a shot straight off the runway. These pants are probably slimmer than anything Harry Styles has ever worn - the leg openings are tiny as well.
The only major difference I can see is that Styles is not stickthin like SLP models are so his skinny jeans are tight on him instead of loose. It's not unflattering though - tight jeans only look bad on people who are overweight. He's slim enough to pull it off.
I'll concede that he wears lower rise than is traditional with SLP, but I honestly think it looks better. Most Saint Laurent models appear to have freakishly elongated pencil-stick legs because of the rise of their pants (such as pic related.) Styles' silhouette looks much more like a normal human being IMO. The designer's original vision is not always the ideal way to wear the clothes.

Harry Styles does not represent SLP. If he did, then Hedi Slimane would've had him on the runway. The jeans are unflattering because his huge fucking thighs juxtapose his wimp calves. That is not the right proportion, SLP or not. SLP proportions is about exaggeration. It doesn't matter if cigarette legs look good to you or not. If you can't pull it off don't fucking put it on. SLP threads suck because unlike "expensive" Rick Owens shit (which you can probably put together over a year if you are not destitute and you keep your eye open for sales), I'd say that <1% of people here have the resources to do full SLP and out of those people, maybe half can pull it off and out of those remaining, most are wasting their money and genetics in full Rick.

if you actually buy lots of slp and have any understanding of fashion, you'd know that most of the shirt designs etc come from shit that hedi's models and muses wear, mostly found at thrift shops / side of the road / etc. there are lots of pieces hedi does that take these inspirations and make them super-slick and 10x better, but a lot are just cookie-cutter imitations. being the 400th guy wearing a shirt with fake bleach stains just makes you look like a moron.
