It's purely personal taste. The break is really distracting, especially when it's a bit of bare leg.
Combine that with an extremely straight boxy leg opening and I find the whole effect draws attention to that bit of shin for no good reason.
Especially when it's never paired with anything that compliments or repeats the form.
As above we have loose full length jackets and shirts leading into a cropped off trouser, the only thing that it evokes to me is a printer that ran out of ink.
