Ancestry? I'm half wasp half italian and I get a golden tan after a week and won't get any darker. If your irish ir scandi tanning might be hard, if your black you already dun goofed and if your mexican I guess get slightly lighter or a shit ton darker.

being tan won't necessarily contribute to you being higher on effay scale.
it's extremely individual. some will look better tanned, but it has to be a healthy looking, good tone tan. some will look better as pale as possible. others are just dark by default, and mostly they look like shit by default too, so they dont have to bother. and some folks CAN tan, but they are ugly either way, so it's better for them to commit suicide.

depends on how bad they are. if they are a result of years and years of getting farmer's tan, you're fucked for life. if not, just wait. tan fades. meanwhile you can go to sauna and generally exfoliate your skin. I heard that sauna especially fades tan very well.
