It's winter here and my boots are beaten up. Recommend me some new ones. Doesn't have to be any specific style, as long as they have laces.

Is this a thing people do with their laces? I never know what to do with my boot laces
>>
>>11414633
I've seen some people do it, I personally don't, but I think it looks alright with certain fits
>>
This seems like a good place to ask. What do you guys think of palladium boots? I wanted to try something new and these look pretty interesting.
>>
>>11414661
I really like them in olive green. I prefer the sfb's however.
>>
>>11414669
Would you be able to wear these/the Palladiums with shorts?
>>
>>11414889
Depends how tall you are I reckon.
>>
>>11414933
Manlet here, 5'8"
>>
>>11414661
palladium is low quality, ugly and overpriced. and i own around 15k in shoes.

just my opinion tho
>>
>>11414943
Yeah then I wouldn't. I'm 5'9 manlet too.
>>

Heck, and here I am working retail while at uni. Can hardly afford shoes thanks to rent and such.
Any plans on what you will do after your looks fade?
>>
i have a random boner for viberg at the moment. these would be great if not for the stupid wedge sole
>>
>>11415163
They look really nice. The wedge sole is a shame. They are my peeve on boots. I really like the slim toe box.
>>
>>11415148
hoping one of them can get me hooked up with an office job before that happens
>>
Iron Rangers. Are these still acceptable? I need assistance /fa/.

In terms of Practicality, I would say LL bean Katahdins, aka rebranded chippewas with lifetime warranty. 3 types, not a nice finish compared to actual chippewas, but slim toebox and a captoe depending on model, or a heavy vibram sole. Needs coconut oil or will dry out eventually though.
>>
>>11415489
Literally all leather will dry out if you don't condition with something.
Also, it annoys me that those boots are advertised as having a "munson last", when the last barely resembles the one invented by Dr. Munson. Damn shame, since that's one of the only lasts that works for my feet.
That aside, they're decent enough boots for the price. The construction is a bit wanting compared to, say, Iron Rangers, but they also retail for about $100 less.

There's a Danner sale going on right now that you should look at.

uhhh when the earth gets farther away from the sun, it doesn't matter where on the planet you are - it's going to be winter.

besides, think about how ridiculous it sounds for a country to celebrate Christmas in the middle of summer.

>Because Australia is a small continent, separated from polar regions by the Southern Ocean, it is not subject to the movements of frigid polar air that sweep over Northern Hemisphere continents during winter. Consequently, its winter is relatively mild, so that there isn't the great contrast between summer and winter temperatures there is in the northern continents. Yet in many parts of the country, seasonal highs and lows can be considerable: temperatures have ranged from above 50 °C (122 °F) to well below zero. Nonetheless, minimum temperatures are moderated.

you have a point

Trying to choose between these two black boots. They're both quite cheap which is fine as I'm not in a place to invest on something better quality.

I own a pair of the original 1000 Mile boots. Bought them maybe five years ago, walked at least 600 miles in them by now and that's a very conservative estimate.

They're nice boots and have held up well with regular care. They're not the most comfortable boots I own, especially since they come with a shitty thin leather footbed, which I've neglected to replace. I bought one of the first models though and I wouldn't be surprised if they use nicer footbeds now.

They're pretty versatile since you can dress them up or down. Mine are so scuffed and broken in now that I mostly just wear them with casual clothes. I've also completely moved away from the workwear style that I was into when I bought the boots.

tl;dr
they're great boots with a sharp look, but there are both tougher and more comfortable boots out there at the same price point

M1943 boots
introduced at the end of WWII
you can buy vintage, buy replicas, or look for some designer take on the look
the only two that come to mind are Robert Geller x Common Projects and Balmain x H&M

I don't like mine, to be honest; the leather is tough even after multiple wears and multiple leather conditionings and I hate the wedge sole (they feel comfortable but are very slick and immediately became scuffed)

Officially known as the "trolls trolling trolls" phenomenon.

I also suspect that there might be Australians involved.
