Stutterheim, yes they are more expensive, but the lining does really add something. I bought a rains, which I still adore, but whenever it is really cold and raining you'll need another jacket underneath it.

Get either slim or skinny depending on how big your legs are, make sure you get a good material. Pure denim has the best shape but obviously doesn't stretch so it's less comfortable, also can't be pinrolled. A little bit of spandex (like 1-2%) is fine without losing shape, but anything too high will be way too stretch. Cuff or pinroll your pants for a majority of shoes

as for colorway i would say definitely no patterns. neutral colors such as off white, navy, black, and grey are good but you could also get solid colors like blue (pic related), red, or green which are a good look for comfycore imo. you shouldn't get a shoe with a complicated or busy colorway, ideally it would be one color with a white sole and (optional) white accents.

Full body it actually looks alright. It is kind of weird how the top half has a pattern on the chest whereas below the waist it's all just plain fabric. A lot of dresses do that, but they usually have a more vibrant color like red, so in this case the dull color doesn't help. Does it get hot in it? The fabric looks like wool or something. I don't know I think it's quite alright, the problem is it's just so plain, and the sweater-look isn't helping. I'm leaning more towards a dumping it than keeping it, there's plenty of other dresses that would look better on you.

It's a warm dress (only 10% wool, mostly cotton), I bought it specifically because it is warm. I've been told I dress like a librarian so I guess something plain and sweater ish is fine for me, I was mainly concerned about the fit as it is about 2 sizes smaller than I usually buy my clothes, but fits comfortably so idk. I'm aware the arm hole is messed up (really obvious in profile view) however I can fix that easily.
It's actually a ribbed knit, so knit offers some detail on the rest of the dress.
