Why does /fa/ dislike this guy's line? Is it cause of Bieber?

>Guy makes derivative and unoriginal 'fashion' line which is only a step above boring shit like Zara
>Famous person starts wearing it
>"Is it because of the famous person?"

This guy is pure cancer.

The forced religious rhetoric he pushes alongside the clothing is so insanely corny and cringeworthy. Not to mention it goes against biblical references which claim not to use God's name for profit.

There isn't an ounce of originality in anything from "Fear Of God".

It’s not just Fear Of God… Beware of ANY recent or upcoming brand that's heavily associated or reliant upon celebrities wearing it for exposure. Especially out of LA. Literally all of them - 100% - are some of the most disingenuous, overpriced garbage you will ever come across.

All these new, wanna-be """designers""" (or "creative directors", whatever they try to claim they are) are extremely narcissistic, pretentious losers. They look up to real designers and fashion houses such as SLP, Rick Owens, Haider Ackermann, or whatever else they come across on tumblr — and they convince themselves they’re special little snowflakes who just happen to have similar ideas that are equally as good. Now thanks to having some connections and/or cash to get things going, they'll mimic and rip off those brands, while simultaneously pushing their own image/face forward alongside their phony “luxury” brand.

Once they're able to get into stores and into the hands of naive hypebeasts who post their pickups on instagram, they thrive endlessly off that feeling of seeing their clothes worn alongside other luxury brands --- or seeing their stuff being sold on racks alongside other real designers. They see all this and think they’re on the same level and they've “made it”.
Not to mention the fact it’s so easy to befriend or pay a solid fee to a celebrity stylist to ensure one of their celebrity clients will throw on a piece of their clothing.

All of this just fuels their ego. Deep down they know damn well they're scamming everyone into their phony "luxury" brand, but they're too greedy, narcissistic and deluded in this massive illusion they created to even care.

lol jeez you sound angry

the brand's name is a huge nod to raf's SS 02 collection
"WOE ONTO THOSE WHO SPIT ON THE FEAR GENERATION THE WIND WILL BLOW IT BACK"

he's supposed to be a super religious person, so all the references are more sincere than you'd think

for your comment on originality, it has some truth to it
fear of god is what you'd expect from a black guy who listened to rap and rock growing up, while fetishizing raf and rick

>beware of any recent or upcoming brand that's heavily associated or reliant upon celebrities wearing it for exposure
lol you could have said this at any point in time for a luxury company to disregard their products
for instance, gucci's original business plan was to get their high end leather goods on as many celebrities and in as many films as possible

>especially out of LA
the problem with LA is that the designers design for los angeles and not for the world, so it doesn't make sense outside of the grove and melrose
this is why LA fashion will always be behind

>the most disingenuou, overpriced garbage
pricing has to do with cost of labor, especially since the market is so saturated everyone is just doing limited production, increasing labor costs
people with a large enough online following could potentially use everlane's business model of DTC with one large markup rather than a wholesale markup and a retail markup, but it's not a sustainable model for the better market at this time

luxury in los angeles is possible
but truthfully, the only products worth having that label are all denim products and t-shirts
>>
I think his line is alright, but he himself comes off as a pretentious ass

>Fashion designer is a pretentious ass

HALT THE PRESSES. NO WAY. DOES THE INDUSTRY KNOW ABOUT THIS?!
>>
>>11342288

Hang yourself immediately for defending this shit.

You know you've got nothing when you're telling someone through a computer screen "ur angry". That post was spot-on. Your apologizing on behalf of this shit is pathetic.

Whether the name is from that corny Raf line or it's from Pusha T's mixtape, I don't give a fuck --- it's corny and it's still a lame, pretentious attempt at being religious. I've also seen the dude try to pseudo-intellectually explain some deep meaning behind it without referencing Raf.

And the industry was completely different back then. Shut the fuck up trying to compare this to Gucci or other real luxury brands back in the day using celebrities. Nowadays there's nothing but fake, wanna-be designers on social-media with zero credibility or formal training/education trying to pass off clothing as "luxury" through celebrities.

It's a disgrace and the circumstances of how it's all done is totally different now.

He's not a "designer" and he's not relevant in the "industry."
>>
His stuff is 100% not worth the price. But the aesthetic is definitely appealing to a lot of people, hence why HM, zara, topman, all that shit is copying this distressed and oversized trend.
>>
His brand is just shit fampai he's not original
