The Tweed-jacket fits great in reality, perhaps its just the bad quality picture. The third jacket was one I tried in a store prior to tailoring. The Shirt isn't to big either. No slim-fit bullshit here, and a waistcoat is to be weared anyway, so yeah. Touch screen gloves are tacky, and I was waiting for someone, that's why I didn't remove the hat and gloves.

I'm only interested in the clothes, not in anything they imply or state.

I can't decide whether it's the shitty resolution camera and dirty lens that make these look like complete ass or if something's really off.

Either you need to take all of your stuff to a competent tailor and ask him to make everything fit, or if it does fit and my eyes are deceiving me, you need to go to the gym and get a man's body.

Because I can't tell if it's the shirts or if you literally have no upper body muscle mass; your shoulders seem slimmer than your hips.
Though I'm hoping this is just bad fit/cut.
>>

I never said anything about duration. And please, "muh autism" is getting old
>>
>>11315141
Ok, the thread is "vintage fashion" not "vintage formalwear" so don't bitch when people post shit that's "too informal". And your posts I quoted reek of underaged/autism posting.

May I suggest lurking more and not acting like a complete tool next time you post?
>>
>>11314396
It's great. Don't really like the wedding-ish tie that much, though.
>>
>>11315146
Only posting formalwear kind of implies formalwear, but I don't know if you are too autistic to understand implications.

I "bitch" how much I want, even if this was a thread for every level of formality, I would still "bitch" about items being to informal.

I really do not care what the decorum is for this image board, I just don't. So whether my behaviour constitutes as "acting like a complete tool" according to your arbitrary criterias is simply irrelevant to me.

Have you got any clothes to show or not?

What makes the difference between being able to pull off vintage fashion and looking like an overdressed dork?
Does it come down to how old/not-scrawny you look? Do you need a chiseled chin for clothes like this to look fitting?
>>
>>11315774
> wearing suits everyday
> brushing off other inspos as "ew too INFORMAL"
> asks how to pull off vintage without "looking OVERDRESSED"

Jesus OP, the answer is literally right in front of you
>>
>>11315779
I'm OP, but that wasn't me.

Also, I didn't brush off, nor did I express disgust. I weren't looking for informal wear.
>>
>>11315779
I get the argument that wearing suits everyday can definitely count as overdressing, but I'd like to know how to pull off classy suits without putting them in the context of daily life.
I mean that even for single black tie events, these photos would look tryhard, and my real question is what exactly is the difference between looking like a tryhard dork and actually looking fashionable.

The only things I could gather so far were a very good clothing fit and a non-manlet physique/head size etc.
>>
>>11315805
The way you put it, it just sounds like it's totally relative what constitutes as overdressing or try hrad besides wearing suits everyday.
>>
>>11315805
I think it just looks tryhard because it's kind of anachronic.

generally speaking, when you're wearing a suit, you're balancing on a line of falling into wearing a 50's costume

and it becomes gradually harder the younger you are

To be honest I have no idea myself what exactly the point is here, fashion is so subjective that it's really hard to make an objective argument.
What I would call tryhard is when it shows that someone is "trying hard" to wear a vintage look but can't quite pull it off and doesn't make it look natural. If I compare pic related with the pic in >>11315774, the difference in making it look natural is immense. This could have tons of different reasons, and a lot of them are probably because pic related feels like a professional model shoot and the like.

The word costume is pretty poignant, because the opposite of an outfit looking natural is that it looks like a costume.
I'd guess that it comes down to alot of little details fitting together well, and if some parts are off the whole outfit ends up looking tryhard.

in our case, it goes even beyond that and into cosplaying territory

you need to understand that the suit is not -fashionable- per se. 98% of the people you see wearing suits, are required to do so either by their job - politicians, goverment officials, securities, you name it - or the occasional evens - funeral, promotion, etc.
It's a uniform at this point, not merely a clothing, that's why people just take slim fitting suit and call it a day. nobody really puts too much sweat about it

putting too much effort into suits usually bring you to your own pic related - he looks like he belongs into Victorian era. and even if you manage to pull such look off, it still looks somehwat comical.

same as you can't wear tricorne and powdered wig in 21 century and not look like a time traveller
