I am starting to get into this style and I am wondering how to pull of a youthful look without looking like an arab with flashy clothing.
I guess most importantly the clothes need to fit very good but I really cant of any more aspects. Ralph Lauren seems to focus on this but I cant make out what it is that makes his stuff look so youthful.

T B H those first two pics are going to look like Arabs IRL. Just a bit too fru-fru with the sweater around the neck on the first one, and the hair and shirt open to the navel on the second one.

>>11269763
This is more how rich white kids at good colleges dress in the summer. Simple and cool.
>>
>>11269781
Thanks, but I mean generally if you got any ideas on how to not look like a grandpa. (I know ivy/trad is not supposed to be worn with slim pants etc. but I really dont care that much about the authenticity)

For example everybody in a German forum told me to buy raw jeans and I havent worn them since I bought them because I look like a fucking cuck in it, especially paired with sperrys. Now I am going back to jeans with washes.
>>
>>11269752
could you boys give me a fit check on a navy blazer, I've never really had to where one and would like some feedback
>>
>>11269819
"Trad" is a label autists came up with so they could cosplay as private school kids from the 50s because they secretly know they can't pull off looking like they went to private school this millenium.

Plenty of people wear slim pants, and J. Press (which is trad as hell) makes all their pants with pretty slim legs and high waists. One thing to watch out for is waist height if you want to tuck your shirt in. Too low can look funky even though people associate higher waists with looking like a grandpa.

Sperries aren't great. You're better off with loafers or canvas sneakers.

When in doubt, start with an oxford-cloth button down and work from there depending on the weather. Pic related is a good example of how folks dress in the summer.

>When in doubt, start with an oxford-cloth button down and work from there depending on the weather.
Since I am going to the gym atm trying to reach ottermode I wont buy anything new yet, but I already have 2500 yurobucks ready to spend (will start a minijob for extra 450 yurobucks/month after A-level exams).

I am planning to buy some ocbds first like you suggested...light blue, light blue with white stripes, rose etc.
Then some polos and maybe one or two rugby shirts and most importantly chinos, which are really hard to find since there is no J.Crew in Germany and it is really hard to find good fitting chinos.

Got any suggestions for jeans with a wash and slim fit? Most jeans with washes look like something a turk or arab would wear or something you would find at Jack&Jones.
J.Crew 484 look okay but that isnt an option like I already mentioned. :'(

Trad is a label Jap ivyfags came up with when Ivy fell out of fashion but Ayatollah Ishizu Kensuke (pbuh) stuck to his guns, insisting he wanted to make Ivy into custom (fuzoku) not /fa/shun.

Japanese clothing still kneejerks back to ivytrad in a way Korean and Chinese fashion does not.

got tips for making a dorm/first apartment preppy on a budget? nothing like kjp's interior pics pls
>>
>>11272313

I went to a prep school and probably 25 to 30% of the stuff people wore was made by or for school programs and clubs. a good prep school is its own little world.
>>
>>11274501
That actually looks dank though.

I had a rug in school colors on my dorm room floor with a pennant and some paraphernalia of the sports I play.

The cool kids in college all had christmas lights around the top of their walls. It sounds ghetto but is actually really nice and inexpensive.

Set your desk up like you mean business and consider getting a lamp and desk accessories that are more "mature" or professional than standard for a dorm.

Professional-looking art on the wall is always solid.

None of these are actually obscure, but I'm just trying to be helpful.

I think J. Press gets a lot of lip service but relatively few people wear their stuff because they have so few locations.

Normies don't seem to recognize Barbour.

The Andover Shop is a great store and alternative to J. Press.

Pantherella makes dank socks that go well into prep fits.

People outside of New England may not recognize Black Dog or Chatham Whites, but they're super preppy.

Alden is turbo-preppy if you're talking about shoes. Gucci horsebit loafers and driving mocs get hate because Gucci has so much tacky shit, but they work with preppy fits in a flashier way. Allen Edmonds makes a great horsebit loafer at a much better value than Gucci, and Alden ostensibly does but you can't find it anywhere.

J. Crew gets shit on because a lot of their stuff can be mall-tier, but their sweaters and ties are great. They were the only place I could find a linen tie in the pattern I wanted.

If you can get some of the Brooks Brothers gear that they make specifically for the Head of the Charles Regatta, that stuff's super legit.

Germany has plenty of good brands for pants, it's stupid to chase Ivy brands that US based blogs/posters talk about if they aren't available in your geographical area. Hiltl I believe is a German based brand and they make extremely nice pants though can be pricey (retail 200-300 each). I've got a pair of grey wool pants and dark green cords from them and they're pretty well made.

What a the British equiv of prep? Because I see faggots dressed like this at any event in London, and they just look so fucking American. Is it tweed?
>>

Tweed is just a fabric m80.
The equivalent to prep is probably sloane ranger. But its not like brits arent dressing preppy...its stupid to claim that its exclusively american

Like, I don't care if they want to dress preppy, but it's exclusively American in origin. Generic "preppy" style with khakis and sweaters and such isn't exclusively American, but anything more specific than that is from New England.

If you have to wear loose fitting clothing it means you don't have any manly shapes. Which is why you stick to loose clothing because tight would be "gay" or "cucked".

Nice try you fucking skinnyfat cunt. I'll be over here enjoying my taper while you wear dadcore.

>Obviously, but I was thinking about brands with higher quality like Allen Edmonds, Alden, Crockett & Jones etc.

Ralph Lauren's Benchmade shoes are contracted through prestigious English shoemakers such as Crockett & Jones, Church's, Alfred Sargent and Edward Green. I own a pair of Ralph Lauren monks by C&J and an outright pair of C&J derbies: the are equivalent in terms of craftsmanship and durability. You can tell which particular shoemaker made a respective RL benchmade pair by the nail heel patterns: each shoemaker has a distinct pattern and way of clustering their heel nails: I used to have the link to a site that did an excellent job of showing which patterns belong to which maker, but I cannot find it anymore.

Swefag back again. Yes, we don't have traditional prep, but it's definitely better than what people in the fancy American schools wear. I've been to many because of sports and travel and most people there look really disgusting. They look like white trash trying to imitate the upper classes (gaudy Ralph Lauren shit, chubby and untrained, disgusting and unproper haircuts).

Don't take it personally, it's just my experience. Scandis overall are more conscious about their appearance.
>hurrdurr cucked bluhbluh
I'm not sure where you guys went, but the boarding school I went to, which my younger siblings go to, is strictly trump supportive. If that will please you stormweenies.
>>
>>11292047
Well yes, but is it really necessary for a thread like this? They've never been useful, ever. I come here occasionally to shitpost or check it out and it's just newfriends coming str8 outta Reddit or /pol/acks thinking they're "so cool and white lmao" with prep style.

You're the same kind of faggot that would complain about "cultural appropriation" on tumblr. Besides, America, as a whole, he been very influential over the west world. To claim that you fake only dress prep if you live in New England is stupid.

That being said, I really hate how my countrymen are trying their hardest to imitate country-English prep and American east coast prep. I do believe I also was responding to someone claiming Euros and Japs were ruining the thread, when they dress better than the Americans in prep.
>>
>>11292273
>country-English prep
No such thing. Only prep is American prep. Sure you Scandis dress nice but IT'S NOT PREP.

lmfao, Reddit is literally #menswear and prep capital. Not even kidding when I say that if you really want genuine prep discussion Reddit is better.

>redditor gets mad at being called out and starts defending his site
>>
>>11292277
Fair enough, fair enough. I'll rest my case; maybe we scandis do not dress prep, but it would be considered prep by most normies, at least "preppy". It's an offshoot of prep that came from the brat culture in Sweden where rebellious teens wanted to be anti-establishment in the 80s. These kids later grew up and now Sweden was successfully ruled by conservatives. The same thing is happening in the youth now with nationalism, so the future will probably be an off shoot of skinheadcore or something.
>>
>>11292281
You do know that everyone except the people in your designated /pol/ shitpost thread despises prep? It's literally babbys first attempt at fashion.

No need to be upset famo. My whole point all along was that these threads feel a bit unnecessary - it's the same images, and there really isn't much to discuss since prep is so established. Once you start discussion prep and if it's okay to wear a tucked in hoodie or whatever it's not prep anymore.

Threads like this are only shit because of people like you. How is it more necessary to discuss trainers, clown shoes, hoodies, jeans and all that basic shit 14yos wear? Please explain.
/fa/ is full of pretentious pricks who think they are oh so fashionable but they are literally dressing normie af and thos whole board is just pure cringe.
But yeah, it is definitely the prep/ivy threads which are unnecessary...
>>
>>11292038
>>11292293
I don't see prep as being easier than dressing in full Rick or streetwear. I mean you wouldn't think half the people in WAYWT threads are even into fashion. And a lot of people try to dress prep but can't pull it off
>>
Should just be called rich Normie core. Just traditional fitting clothes that look better than kholes. /fa/ can't handle these threads cause dressing like a rich Normie will get you 10x the amount of good attention than full Rick or the autismwear that you see in the waywt threads.
>>
>>11292286
Idk I should probably stop shitposting about Euros because you all are contributing to the thread unlike reddit...

What are the favorite brands of Swedish preps?
>>
>>11292342
Barbour Liddesdale
>>
>>11292413
Because trad/prep/ivy is a look set in stone. You don't go around wearing high top vans in prep, or it isn't fucking prep.

Whereas everything else is just streetwear, it's mix and match as you'd like. And /rog/ gets a pass because it's avant-garde and also rule breaking - prep has its rules, and they're not that hard either. Those cringy fits you are talking about actually serve discussion because they don't follow any style or whatever (there hasn't really been any subcultures in the 10s with a style set in stone). If there was an "emo general" I'd say the same thing as I do to you fags.

>>11292452
Also agree with this, but the people who "dress like prep and can't pull it off" are probably the exact ones posting ITT. Prep general is a bunch of clueless morons who don't even post prep half the time but post "le cultured rich white man" clothing.
>>11292482
Yeah, exactly. That's why we don't need threads like this because prep is fucking normiecore and if you're trying to emulate prep so bad you are creating threads about it then you're human waste. Prep is super, super fucking easy, yet you faggots act like it's an art. Prep follows all modern day "fashion rules", it's solid, all the items are out there, etc. The only thing you need to think about is coordinating your colours, that's it.
>>11292550
Swedish preps just emulate American prep, but since they don't have Brooks Bros or J.Press in Sweden they mostly buy basics from expensive brands that sort of fit into the preppy type. A favourite among kids of course is Ralph Lauren.
>>
>>11292631
>trying to emulate prep so bad
You are literally the only one talking about prep like trad faggots.
>Because trad/prep/ivy is a look set in stone.
Yeah, you cant interpret classics in a new way or find new ways to wear them...Close minded idiot.

Btw prep has so many facettes, you just sound dumb when you say that its that easy to wear.
