ANYWAY, yeah, Docs are fugly and cliche. Totally agree with that sentiment - the brown/tan sole always bugged me for some reason when I was doing the streetpunk/Oi! thing... same with Sambas. In terms of durability and the whole Oi/punk style, I really really liked Grinders boots in the oxblood color - straight out of "This is England" - absolutely loved them, and they took a beating. HUGE toe box (only offered in steel toe variety last I checked, probably 12 years back or so though).
Recently I found Solovair, and they look great. Definitely check them out as an alternative to Docs. If I remember correctly, Solovair is ACTUALLY made in England (Docs are Chinese since like '08 or so, with the tangible drawback being a slight change in style that accompanied the outsourcing)

Thanks for the tip, I own a few straight leg pairs as well, but I always seem to lean to skinny even with being self concious about my tennis thighs. Funny thing is my calves melted once I stopped playing, but thighs just stayed kinda swole.
As for the Docs, yeah, there are objectively "better" options for low top leather shoes, but the chunky-ness of the docs has a vibe I really like. As far as durability goes I can't say much - I've had 1 pair 8s and one pair 10s, first ones lasted a few years, the other pair started giving in within half a year. This pair in the pic I've had for about 5 months now, but I don't wear them nearly as much as I wore my other Docs when I was a dumb teen punk.
