in mine it's 6 or 7 depending on the parents and it's 6 years of primary, 3 years of middle school and 3 years of liceum(or 4 years of vocational which is gaining popularity).

liceum is just a secondary school with profiled classes and it's purpose is basically just preparing you for uni.
vocational school is like liceum but you also learn technical skills needed for jobs that you class profile involves. you have apprenticeships at workshops, labs etc. and after you finish school, they can employ you, it's not guaranteed though.
vocational is better if you want to study something in the STEM field but I'm a fucking moron who went to liceum
