If you are looking for a versatile shoe that's cheap and can work with most outfits, vans old skools in black, if your budget is a little freer, new balance 998s, pick low key colors (no primary colors, something like black and white or all grey) .
If you want cheap high tops get vans sk8 his or Converse all stars (black or white)
Or if you actually set aside a budget for clothes then you can spend them on some glorious Common Projects Achilles lows
Avoid Sperries, Sketchers, and all NB except for the 9XX line
