I think the main issue here is that an item like that has totally diverged from its original function. This is supposed to be something designed to be utilitarian in a lot of ways but given the kind of cash value it commands at the present moement it's being bought for style which inherently conflicts with the sort of aesthetic ethos it espouses. That's why it's hard to look good pulling shit like this off. It's tempting and it's cool but it's best to leave it behind.
