Any idea where I can cop that kind of style like pic related? Something more old school, mature/refined/classy. Also, any idea of cool vintage stuff to do? I already started wet shaving with a straight razor, shooting, go to church on sunday, some DIY projects...hobbies/habits/mindset suggestions?
>>
for cool old stuff to do, travel to Germany and slaughter some socialists with a llbattle rifle.
Then return home, buy a starter home, Marry the first women you ever seduce, raise five children and torment them through out their childhood with your uncontrollable rage and PTSD.

pic related
Shooting is great, but what the fuck.

As someone who grew up shooting, hunting, riding, going to church on Sundays and dressing like an established older white man, you kinda have to let your style come out of what you're into. Otherwise it's a costume.

I already read some about it but it never really talks about what kind of brands should I aim for. I am not filthy rich but I can afford to pay a little more than average as long as it is worth it and quality. I usually buy my clothes at Banana Republic, le Chateau, Simons and Jack and Jones.

>inb4 shit taste
I'm open for better suggestions

>pic related my haircut
>>
So pic unrelated? That's modern mediterranean style and obviously it's too tight everywhere.
If you really want vintage or vintage-inspired stuff you'll need to dig deep and study a lot to make it work and look your own. Get it wrong and it'll look like a cheap costume.
Some notable items to start a wardrobe could be
A workwear blazer, navy or olive are fine colors. Patch pockets, raised seams and washed twill fabric.
Denim will play an important role as back in the day you usually had one pair of denim that you wore hard at work and shit. Levi's vintage clothing makes the 501 at it's different stages of evolution and the 50's models were kind of slim and high waisted if I recall correctly.
You'll need to have good white t-shirts, those are worn often.
Build upon that, there's the leather jackets, cinch-back trousers, boots, shirts and all that stuff to explore. Just don't overdo it.

J. Press.
Similar pieces from Brooks Brothers if you can't afford Press. It's the most 50s thing there is.

I always find it funny when people use Don Draper as an example of classy masculinity. The whole point of Mad Men is that he's a superficial, hollow man, all of his life is an advertisement.

I suppose it sums up /fa/ pretty well.

hahahah fucking *tips fedora*.

really Reddit's MFA likes this style you're aiming for NOT even kidding but you should lurk there. They can help you out a lot better than us, way, way better for what you like. And they will be exactly the dead trend you want but at least you'll have it. Then you can vote Trump if you want.

No, it's not a joke. Reddit knows about this, we don't care anymore. At all.

i generally agree, but i gotta ask. isn't the point of high fashion to ignore trends? arent trends characterized by cheap, easy-to-buy clothing?

High fashion creates trends 10+ years into the future. High fashion predicts what is going to be worn more casually later on.
It's expensive as fuck for that, the materials/textures used and many reasons as well.

Fast fashion imitates high fashion sooner or later.

I'm deleting all my remaining dadcore pics as I post them since the style is way too uncomfortable, cheap & boring maybe you'll get bored of it or maybe not, who knows but Reddit is the community for you. Being brutally honest, since fuck it... Why not help while I'm here?

In my experience my old Express Peacoat & my old Clark Desert Boots never got enough use. I'm going to sell them.
I have only used 1 "dadcore" in my life and that is for family dinners and once for a job interview.
And now that I think about it, it's more "minimalist-memecrome" style aka Raf Simmons core. Black sweater + white button up + black slim tie + black preppy pants + black oxfords. You only need 1 job fit, everyone dresses baggy anwy

I seriously have to sell most of my cheap mallcore "gentilemanly" shit.

How I wish I had clairvoyance and saved up the money instead. Another thing is that I was so young and still Am for that shit.

Everyone dresses casual-comfy enough when they go out. I was that sperg that looked out of place dressed like a dad, even with suspenders and everything sometimes. I thought I was fashionable as fuck back then but my friends really mentioned that I was "trying too hard", and in fact I was... It was just a casual party and I showed up in these fits holy shit... All I'm saying is 100% truth. I had to re-learn the feeling of wearing comfortable clothing and how to dress for myself not an invisible Wall Street elite that wasn't even watching me.

That is not 1950 style, idiot. The idea is there but his execution is all wrong. There are so many things wrong with that pic. Shirt is WAY too tight, pants are too tight and low rise, watch is obnoxiously big, gayass bracelets, belt that's non-leather, douchey look, etc.

I don't own anything like that but that would be the "high-end" stuff that is added to spazz, #menswear, etc stuff.

Stupid I know. That or same cuts but with a camo pattern just to be a little more on the edge. The style was very boring for me. It never, NEVER experimented. The experiments you're going to find on it are just another pattern, another textile or notch lapels, metal collar tips... or wait for it... "OMG A SUIT BUT IN BLUE!" Holy shit so revolutionary and daring!!

It's always, always the same boring cuts, same silhouette.

A gentleman is more formal at his most casual than most, and more casual than most at his most formal.

Basically you want a "fuck you I don't dress poor" when you're chilling, and "I'm not taking this nearly as seriously as you are" in formal situations.

Example: A pleb wears shorts, sneakers and a polo when he's dressed-down. A canny fellow is wearing appropriately light trousers, loafers and a button-down.

Example 2: At a party where people are wearing suits, the rube dons his slickest continental-style suit, french cuffs and shiny lace-ups. The gentleman from before has wandered in wearing a suit with a cut decades out of style, with the same loafers and button down shirt as before.

They don't all end up like that. SEAL officers and those enlisted men who have good bachelors degrees (a surprising percentage of them) are highly sought after by elite business and law schools. That kind of internal motivation and intensity they have is quite rare.

Source: I know SEAL officers from Annapolis and MIT.

Any brands recommandation for good white t-shirts? Also for leather jackets (cureently have 2 Danier jackets)?

I thought that clothes should fit, how can you tell if it is too tight or not? How to wear that style but in more casual events?

I'm still in denial about Brooks Brothers losing its touch, but I keep almost buying things there and then passing on them for a reason. Really want to buy one of their fun shirts from before they started putting the logo on it.

That said, they're making the right move by focusing more on getting college students wearing their stuff again. That was a big part of their old image and getting it back might revitalize the brand a bit. Hanging around private schools a bit, I do think the kids wearing Brooks Brothers are outdoing those in Polo or J. Crew, but I don't fuck with any of those anymore.
>>
>>11170804
Also, while their quality is more of a mixed bag than it should be, my Brooks Brothers button-down shirts hold up and look better than anything else I've tried.

lol wtf are you talking about? most officers don't have relevant bachelors degrees or education for "elite business and law schools"

not sure what you think "elite business and law schools" are but ivy leagues for example definitely don't specifically seek veterans to enroll with them
