Short time lurker starting to get interested in fashion here. What is a good starting point for somebody like me who has realised they have been dressing like an aut for years and basically has 0 /fa/ clothes? I was thinking of copping some simple palewave shit to flesh out my wardrobe on a reasonably tight budget.

to whoever the guy that called palewave will be the next big thing, nice. To you OP get some good jeans some shirts you like and some kicks and you'll be sweet. Most people here have shit taste in fashion anyway. Here is a great tip, its all about blending colors the right way.

I'm in the same position. I've always dressed nicely but nothing /fa/ would ever find acceptable, and only recently started getting into it. Read the sticky, its got a lot of useful stuff on it including links and colour matching like the other anon said.

I've poured over the sticky but when I look at waywt threads etc I can't always put my finger on what makes the fit appealing/unappealing. Unless it's some blatantly well fitted, simple, goth ninja shit, which is rare.

If you want a good palewave wardrobe consider that image but a lot of that looks a bit out dated to me.

I would start buy buying some nice midrange jeans, $50-100. You dont really want to cheap out on jeans because they can be worn multiple times. Just get light washes since you want palewave, straight with taper is probably best but depends on your build. Seriously no one will notice if you rotate 3 pairs of jeans through out the week.
In addition to the jeans consider getting some wool pants or a grey sweat pants that is tapered.

Take influence from a pale wave guide but be more concerned about the fit of the colthing. Don't buy anything that fits too big or too tight unless that's the look you're going for

For tops, just pick up some basic tees, crew neck. Think at least white, light grey, think start venturing in muted pastels to fit into your aesthetic. On top of that you are going to want to duplicate color scheme but on long sleeve shirts. For these I suggest something in the 7-25$ dollar range, basic tees can be picked up be cheaper than the long sleeves obviously, but don't be too stingy on them. I would forego sweaters for now since it is getting warmer and you would benefit a lot from saving more money to invest into knitwear. Instead buy a shit ton of sweatshirts in the colors you want, think Gildan for the absolute cheapest, eBay is a nice place to look, but I'm sure its common in stores too.

dont fall for the palewave meme please, its for uncreative tards who cant figure out a way to dress interestingly on their own so they have to copy some specific set of rules that some internet strangers made up
you shouldnt actively go out of your way to dress based on a set of rules, its the epitome of cringe and being dressed by the internet

Fit is the most important. Make sure everything fits the way you want it to. There is no right/wrong fit of clothes. They can be loose/tight but it needs to be intentional.

As most people will say, buy quality basics. You don't need to buy $400 Tom Ford shirts but don't be scared to spend more than $40 on a decent shirt.

Get yourself 2 pairs of jeans, a few shirts and a good jacket/sweater and then build up from there.

Example outfit for beginners would be black combat boots, black jeans and a neautral color shirt. Something like that will look better than most people you encounter.

For outerwear, and shoes this is where think that image lacks individuality. In a palewave fit you want to keep both of these relatively simple in design, but I would never recommend the cream bomber. A stonewash denim jacket seems like a great choice, I've read that eBay has some Levi's vintage ones for pretty cheap. In addition to this, just get a nice quality hooded jacket, zipper is probably more versatile. I would shoot for atleast 45$, your jacket will get more wear than any individual shirt so consider the amount of days you wear a shirt and jacket then translate the price that way. Also for shoes the beige suede shoes look ugly to me, but thats not really my thing so you make the choice. Stans are a classic shoe and you will get memed on them for buying but some colorways look good, especially in palewave. Instead, i would suggest just buying BW Gats, they are much more low key cool while fitting the same aesthetic. Thats pretty much all I have to say about basics for your wardrobe,

Like anon verified, either no one notices or cares enough to mention it so if you can only afford 2 or 3 pairs of nice jeans, get that instead of 6 shit pairs.

And yeah obviously fit is everything for clothing as you said you noticed from waywt threads, if anything I would suggest sizing up for palewave, especially the sweatshirts as a comfy look may compliment the style better.
