holy fucking shit anon what do i do to protect me from the rain

At first this endeavor began with me looking for a quality umbrella. Then I quickly realized that half the people weren't even arguing over which umbrella was best, but just to get a poncho instead. When I started looking at ponchos, half the people then were arguing to just get a /fa/ rain jacket or back to a fucking umbrella.

I'm not opposed to getting more than one thing, it's just i've gone my whole life living where it essentially doesn't rain at all and new circumstances have arrived where I will be dealing with it frequently

tl;dr: wtf do u do about the rain
>>
decent rain jacket + umbrella. ponchos are fashion neckbeard tier
>>
>>11145330
good common options for slim fitting rain jackets?
>>
Rains. They're pretty cheap and basic. Depending on your style, there are loads of decent technical outer layers you can buy from companies ranging from Belstaff to Acronym to nanamica.

The Umbrella Shop out of Vancouver made the best umbrella I've ever used. Buy a Fulton or something if you're being cheap/don't have a choice. It'll at least outlast any discount one you'd otherwise buy. Those Senz ones look pretty tacky.
>>
>>11145326
I personally don't like umbrellas because they restrict movement, in crowded places it's harder to move around, o in windy days it can fuck it up, and it's just an extra thing to carry leaving me with only one hand free. I use a rain jacket and sometimes will use a waterproof windbreaker.
>>
>>11145357
this might throw a curve ball into the equation and you guys are probably going to hate me for this- but I was thinking umbrella because I need to carry a laptop with me to work which I currently keep in a jansport backpack. Yeah I know that will probably have to change at one point..
>>
lmao at even considering a poncho
>>
>>11145370
Get a cheap business style backpack, less than 100 bucks. It will not let rain in like canvas, unless you submerged it or something.

seconding this anon

i bought pic related two winters ago and it has lasted me well through the english rainy season aka october-may with some showers in june july august and september

honestly for the price point it was one of the best pieces i've bought, never gotten wet and the zippers are all waterproof, plus lightweight af
>>
>>11145370
If the only concern is a wet laptop, buy a water resistant sleeve for it. Or, you know, a plastic bag. You can also proof some materials to make them more water resistant.

If you're a little less concerned with appearances, I'd just buy a cheap cotton backpack and wax it heavily. It'll look worse and be way less flexible, but it'll be nearly waterproof, except for the zippers.

Can anyone vouch for Rains?
Also what are some good rain coats/general coats that are waterproof and go with many fits that I can cop in the UK?

Carrying a fucking poncho is one more thing to worry about. Your argument is invalid.

ponchos are fucking rad faggots.

keeps entire bag from getting wet
breaks wind and covers pants when biking in rain
breaks wind when walking
waterproof
can cover second person when raining (potential qt 3.14)
...

ponchos are practical and effay.
>>
>>11146824
this one actually decent quality...waterptoof, windproof and deep pockets and got it at half price.
worth it.
>>
>>11146824

not same style, but Norwegian Rain S-cape and Raincho got a similar aesthetic
>>
>>11145326
it's just water, you don't need extra stuff to deal with it unless you're going to be in the rain forest or something
t. lifelong Michigan dweller (we get lots of precipitation)
>>
>>11146856
S-cape looks dope af, too bad it goes for 600 eur, didn't like the raincho do much. Thanks familia I'm gonna start saving money

rains
>>
>>11146789
They usually roll up, you can fit them in a bag much easier than an umbrella, and some of them compress small enough to go in a pocket. Also you don't have to carry out when you're actually using it whereas an umbrella means you don't have both hands free.
>>
>>11145326

Guy's fucking outfit is awesome... but I'm still kinda noobish to this stuff. He's wearing a jacket on the outside, but what's the second layer underneath?
>>
>>11147654
Looks like he's wearing a peacoat under the sports coat. Terrible.
>>
>>11147690

I guess I'm just really liking the color selection a lot. I would've done a cardigan instead.
