They always had cool hair .

They moved to the Midwest for some reason. There's some odd revival of goth culture there for some reason too.
>>
>>11141059
Not at all. The best girls are the ones thats are almost borderline narcissist it makes for good bants and you don't have to constantly be picking them up.You can't even playfully insult a low self-esteem girls without them crying.

Yeah I've noticed this too, In fact most goth models,porn-stars and camwhores were mostly form the midwest or the south US too, since at least the 00s

Now I feel like moving down there myself to find me a qt goth g/f. Because I think the closest big cities and trendy coastal towns have now are gross tumblrinas

They're still more fashionable than pic-related. Emos boys were androgynous bitches but at least they had some edge to them, nu-males are just castrated watered-down nerds who live a mockery of masculinity by attempting to "paternal" or "mature"

Say what you want but emos were the last real subculture.
>muh hipsters
No. Shut up.
>>
>>11141866

agreed. Hipsters aren't a real subculture, they're just a mish-mash of subcultures caused by a vain effort of trying to be "retro" or "ironic"

at least previous subcultures like punk, rasta or goth were defined by music or a belief. Even worse hipsters turn their noses up and mock other more honest subcultures by claiming how out-dated they are (hurdur I did that in high-school)
>>
this style peaked in late 2002/early 2003, was dead by 2006, and won't be relevant again until 2024

>2007

what kind of unfashionable flyover state do you live in that kids dressed like this in 2007?!?

By 2007,the indie/hipster thing was full swing
>>
>>11141902
Hipsters aren't a real subculture desu. I mean there's a lot of standard hipsters styles like shirts buttoned up, thick glasses, tattoos, undercuts and beards. But because of the Internet people can find styles a lot more easily and people don't really take styles from irl as much anymore. So basically hipster is basically anyone who is alternative from the norm.

It's basically the go-to soft insult for boring and/or insecure people.

>You ride a bike? You go hiking? You play any music other than "Wonderwall" on an acoustic? You make any kind of art? You enjoy old video games? You like foreign films? You listen to something other than top 40 or songs you heard in commercials? You like food other than hamburgers and Dominos? You drink cheap beer out of necessity because you can't afford the better stuff? You're broke because you studied something that interested you instead f going STEM. You have literally any hobbies other than watching football and talking about football and jacking off to straight porn?

>That's so hipster

I was in high school in the early 00s when the whole indie scene was kicking about in the uk, Emo's didn't come till about mid 00s here.

I often wonder what happened to the guys from the scene.
Then I walk past the job centre and see them all there with their shitty tattoos, piercings and clothes straight out of attitude cloting catalogue circa 2007

My current girlfriend has no self-esteem, and on one hand, she's honestly one of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever met, on the other hand, I very jokingly and playfully teased her about her nose (she's got a button nose thing going on, I like it) she started tearing up.

A lot of work, but I sorta think she's worth it.

Im still sad about the fact that the age of 2007 qt emo is over.
>>
It was a lame fad. Anyone who took it seriously was probably not right in the head. I used to know some guy in his late 30's that used to try and dress like that to attract teenage girls.
>>

Every single one of those bands back then were 2old2dress like that.

I don't understand how nu-male is a fashion subculture.

I mean glasses and beards are pretty common, if you're a man you most likely will have a beard unless you maintain your shaving on a regular basis, and glasses are what people with bad eyesight have. It's kind of crazy
>>
>>11141902
Rastafari isn't a subculture you fool, it's a religion.
>>
>>11145897
It's not
nu-male is just another one of /pol/'s dumb buzzwords that got out of control
>>
>>11141926
No....
I think it also depends on how old you were in determining what was popular. like if you were in college your sens of what is fashionable will be severely different than a middle schooler

I remember dressing up like this like it was yesterday. Hard to believe it's been nearly a decade since I took this picture.
>>
I've only been out of high school for a couple years. My friends and I seemed to be the last of the emo kids straggling behind. Now the kids I see seem to mostly be gender-queer tumblrites. It was a fun fashion/culture, but we've all mostly grown out of it. I think emo also hit us a little later, as I live on Vancouver Island, Canada, and our trends always lag behind.
I wouldn't say it's completely dead here though. I see them around, especially in the rave scene. Lots of scene kids there definitely.

>>
>>11141089
wrong kind of emo. the revival coming out of the midwest is the 90's kind of emo. like sunny day real estate and mineral. not the rawr xd kind of emo.

but i wouldn't be surprised if we ended up back in 2007 in a couple years with the way nostalgia has been influencing everything

For some reason I think those way-too-old guys hanging out with the young'ons were (are?) just an integral part of emo/scene/whatever circles.

At least here in Denmark I would go as far as to say that at some point it was an actual stereotype that was quite accurate. My female friend who came in those circles in her teens has told me so many stories about them

hipster isnt a real subculture because no one claims to be one themselves. a subculture can't be based around what people aren't.
