So I got super smashed a few days ago. I tripped over my dumb ass and put a hole in my jeans.
They're a good pair so I don't wanna just throw them away. I was thinking about ripping/cutting them up myself. Are jeans like that /fa/? And if so, any good guides on achieving a good look for those?
Thanks.

most of the purposely ripped jeans you see around look fake and stupid. but if you know what properly worn jeans look like you can make something better than 99% of what's out there (though it'll probably still look a bit shit). stuff 'em full of padding so they have some volume, then just go to town on them with a wire brush, cheese grater, coarse grit sanding block etc.
here's some pics of proper worn jeans for reference

Sandpaper worked for me for more subtle/natural-ish holes. Also scissors-wash-tumble dry for frayed edges.
Depending on how you ripped it tho i wont do much, less is more imo and you can look tryhard with multiple fake rips/holes

ok cheers, guess i'll try and just make that hole bigger and make the area look more worn
i've never done something like this and i don't want to fuck it up
>>11137932

dang that's dope but how do you even diy that
>>11138263
>>11138260
shit yeah those are dope but i would fail so hard doing that
how big is the hole? Post pics?
>>11138323
it's pretty small, will post in like 30 mins, at the dentist right now
>>11138333
OK dope, small holes can be kinda cool if it doesn't look like you did it yourself
>>11138336
excuse my broken phone camera, it's around the size of my thumb
should i just leave it as it is?
i'll post pic on leg in a second
>>11138408
>>11138431
Doesn't look bad, I'd keep as is.
>>11138445

cheers anon

Never seen it look good on a guy, always looks too tryhard.
>>11138447
you spineless fuck
>>11138512
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
i'm utter shit with tailoring of any kind, i'd probably fuck it up
i might try doing picrel, but kinda anxious to try
>>11138431
It's a small hole in a pretty natural spot, unless you want the unnatural looking distress (which I'm a fan of sometimes), I would say to just leave it. It'll get bigger as you wear them and eventually you'll have naturally distressed jeans.

For reference, here's a pair of mine that started with a similar hole. Took a couple months of pretty heavy wear to reach this point.

>>11138263
These are cool
>>11138269
This isn't
I fucked up a pair but I'm not sure if the holes on the thighs look tacky. I like the really distressed look
>>11138663
>>11138668
Looks too unnatural imo, makes me think of cutting too.
>>11138679
how'd you think about patching the holes on the thighs up and keeping the rips on the knees?
>>11138689
Yeah that would probably be good. I think the knees are fine but they thighs are a bit much.
I did a pair with unnatural distressing that I'm quite fond of. The trick is not to just cut holes, but to cut lines and unravel the threads with a a needle
>>11138698
I'm probably just dumb - but you mean just making narrow cuts and then unraveling, yes?
>>11138724
Yes! Cut across the warp of the jeans (horizontally) but not the weft, then use a safety pin to remove sections of the warp or pull down chunks of the weft. That's how you get lines of still-connected thread rather than gaping holes with flaps of fabric
What is the point of asking if they're /fa/?
Why not ask yourself if it fits with your aesthetic at all? I mean if the jeans themselves look cool it won't stop people from being confused if you're usually normcore / preppy or something and you show up with jeans ripped to shreds.
Just suck dick, that's how my girlfriends pants ripped on the knees.
