There's no pyramid scheme aspect to it. It's just risky, and a hedge fund with a track record of decades can lose it all in a few days. That's why you shouldn't put all your money in a single fund.
The traditional fee structure is 2% management fee and 20% performance fee. That is, you pay 2% each year regardless of performance, and 20% of positive returns. However, a high water mark is used for the performance fee, so you will only be charged it on positive returns that bring your investment above its previous greatest level, so the fund can't scam you by repeatedly alternating good years and bad years.

Thanks. That's a possibility. I wear scrubs at work and sometimes a white coat so I don't really think about work clothes. It's mostly the to and from work aspect.
