Just don't get the 514's. Bought a pair thinking they were 511's (Don't ask me how, I was just being inattentive as fuck). The fit is terrible and they look like shit.

The thing about mainline levis is they're super inconsistent.
I had a pair of 510s that were the best jeans I ever owned. Fit perfectly everywhere, wore them until they blew out. Subsequent pairs have been all over the place. Similar experiences with 511.
So I guess my advice would be to try on multiple pairs in the store.
