To be honest, I expect it to be an engineering shitshow. The Model S has so many stupid design features it's almost comical:
- Battery dies through vampire drain if you park it too long, potentially resulting in an un-openable goddamn vehicle
- Locked engine/etc. compartment, making third party repair and modification impossible
- Firmware updates heavily linked to car functionality, meaning one bad pushed update results in bricked cars
- Huge screen has proven to be a distraction to drivers, especially since a stupid number of basic controls are put on the touchscreen (ultimately lessening functionality)
etc.
Note that all of the above is easily fixed without changing the character of the car. You could have normal goddamn handles with mechanical parts, the ability to access the engine where necessary, an extremely robust rollback functionality (or some other anti-bricking mechanism), and normal goddamn cabin controls. But no, because ~the future~
