Not trying to be a snob, but you can tell the difference in quality between a $100 pair and a $400 pair.
I'm not sure if they're 4 times better, but you can definitely tell there's a difference in the build quality and feel.
I think anything more than $400 is pushing it though and after that it's a clear case of just paying for the brand.

Not that guy, but actual rich people don't all go looking for ways to spend the most money on a purchase. Sure, there are those who lay in a supply of $500 Belenciaga shades in case their guests forget to bring their own, but there are plenty of people with 8-figure net worths who would just as soon get the Ray Ban version and be done with it.
I'd drop $400 on a pair of prescription glasses in a heartbeat if I still wore them, but sunglasses get lost all the time so I've only got $1k or so worth of those.
