Who /pomade/ here?
>>
>>11085621
old school is best.
water-based are for cucks.
>>
>>11085649
disgusting
>>
>>11085649
What brands do you use then?
>>
>>11085730
I like Amsoil 5W-30
>>
Lately been using Shear Revival's The One Who Knocks, Schmiere's Hart, and Mr Ducktail. I hate water based.
>>
I can't use anything that's not water based pomade.I have thick wavy hair so petroleum jelly or anything alike won't do.I've been using suavecito, cock grease and layrite.
>>
>>11086392
I have such an irrational hate for Suavecito. I don't know how it works for other people, but that stuff just is gel for me.
>>
>>11086392
Try lay-rite
>>
>>11086413
It's technically gel.But hey, I've tried a shit ton of pomades and it's one that handled my thick fucking hair. Not planning to stick with it. Leaves my hair dry as shit when I wash it off. My hair's bad enough after I bleached it the last time. Anything else I could try to maintain my semi long thick hair?

>I've been using suavecito, cock grease and layrite.
>>
>>11086392

layrite is super fucking good. i use that shit all the time.
>>
Shiner has been the best water-based one for me. Petroleum-base ones have been royal crown, uppercut deluxe, and some mr ducktails which smells amazing but comes in a smaller tin
>>
>>11086591
My favorite water-based is probably Crystal Lake, it's really the only one I've experienced that doesn't have such a hard "gel"-like dry down where it turns hard and makes my hair dry as all fuck.

>used Murray's Pomade
>/fa/ told me it makes you go bald
>switch to water based
>start using Suavecito
>/fa/ tells me it will dry out my hair and is bad for my hair

So is there any pomade that doesn't require me to cross a fucking ocean, dig up a treasure, then use that treasure to pay for the pomade?

Is uppercut any good?
>>
>>11087232
>any pomade
any GOOD pomade
>>
Suavecito for everyday fun, Murray's for a fancier/more professional setting.

I'm also a Mexican so I have thick, uncontrollable black hair. These are the only two pomades that work well with my hair and don't give me dandruff, dry scalp, etc etc.
>>
>>11087244
OP here and I'm white but I have thick blonde hair, nothing holds it in place except for pomade, and in most cases not even for the entire day.

Still I'm fucking scared of going bald.

Not that I'd be ugly as a bald guy, I just think doing my hair and experimenting with pomades is a lot of fun.
>>
>>11087257

Suavecito firm hold would suite best for you imo. It's stronger than their regular pomade but still water based so you can wash out easily and won't go bald. I would definitely recommend if you're steering away from oil-based.
>>
>>11087271
Yeah I'm now using the regular Suavecito and I'm really liking it. Looks much more slick than Murray's. I might get the firm hold when I finish this pot.
>>
Tried Murray's and it's way too thick and weighs my hair down too much. I have thin hair and American Crew Clay is my go to because I have it short.

Was going to try Royal Crown since I've heard it's pretty good and cheap.
>>
>when your style shit
>>
>>11086464
Cuck
>>
Would a tiny bit of water based pomade be ok for long hair?

I'm looking for something to slick it back. Was originally going to pick up some light gel to slick my hair back but now I'm thinking suavecito.
>>
>>11088866
I've been using Suavecito for 3 days now and I'm really liking it. I don't have long hair though.

Are pomades only good for slicked back styles? Can you use them for messier styles like pic related?

thoughts on layrite super hold?
thick blonde hair here, looking for something with good hold without too much shine
>>
Water base pomades are baby's first pomades. Go oil or go home. O'douds and Murrays represent.

Gatsby Wild Shake is the only one I've tried that actually lasts for at least a day on my hair and holds it decently.
>>
>>11090376
Gatsby is great stuff
I use their matte wax and I've used the grey jar before. Both hold really well and look good.
I used American Crew pomade and fiber before that and I'm not going back.
>>
>Suavecito
>literally putting motor oil in your hair
>>
>>11090025
>>11090103
To be honest, I think you could, you would have to use the lighter hold pomades but they leave a lot of shine. There exists matte finish pomades, I know Admiral and Imperial make them, and they could definitely give you a messy look.

>>11090228
This was my first water based and its very good. Another product you could look into is Admiral's Strong Hold, its cheaper, you get the same amount, but the hold is not quite as strong as Layrite super hold.

I think you would enjoy the Rustin Heavy Hold and Lockhart Heavy, they both have strong hold without much shine, but they are both oil based.
>>
>>11087232
since when does murrays make you go bald?

I used dappers dan extra hold for like 5 months straight
I think it gave me dandruff desu but it only appeared after I got buzzcut and let it grow again

I rarely washed it completely since I do sports every single day
so id put shampoo to remove whatever it was possible and reapply bit of pomade again

Man just google the thing up, there are stories about old /fa/ggots who used murrays for decades and nothing happened. I bet some dude started to lose his hair due the genetics and blamed the pomade instead.

>literally not knowing what literally means

Yeah for every dude that tells me it's gonna make me go bald, there are 3 dudes who have been using it for a couple of years already who tell me it doesn't make you go bald.

I don't know, by now I don't think think it's gonna make me bald.

been using this for a while but don't really like it. makes my hair look greasy in an unwashed way rather than regular pomade way. any recommendations for brands with a similar hold and finish?

I second this.Suavecito is for your everyday going to work or buying milk pomade. Shit is like deo, an everyday thing.
>>
>>11090025
it depends on your hair as always.
I myself having thin hair every time it gets long enough I really need strong holds for any hairstyle.
>>
>>11090310
Murray's master race here. I feel bad for the balding babbys that don't know how to use it and pull their hair out when they try.

The oil in Murray's is amazing for my dry hair. No more dandruff.
