True that. They filmed in Ireland with some CGI added. But to be fair, if they filmed in Scania where they are supposed to be living it would be boring as shit. Take Uppsala temple for instance which looked pretty cool with the waterfall etc in the series but would've been boring as shit if they used the real life location. I'm a Scandi and have been to all those locations several times.

Almost every surviving source about Vikings is either a Christian or, less commonly, Muslim take on it.
They had no longform written language and runes can only tell you so much.
Even saga sources on what was happening then were written through a Christianised lens.
So complaining its having any kind of religious slant put on it is kind of bullshit when literally almost all written sources except for "Gudrun raised this stone" type things did have.
Vikings plays fast and loose with history but complain about the right bits, like people being in a room together who existed 200 years either side of each other in history.

I've actually researched this and it's amazing to see on YouTube videos, black people commenting nice things on white people's dreadlock videos, they don't care because they see it as something to unite black and white race.
Besides, Jamaican Rastas culturally appropriated dreadlocks from Hinduism so there's that.
