>Collagen induction therapy (CIT) also known as microneedling or skin needline is an aesthetic medical procedure that involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles (microneedling the skin). CIT should be separated from other contexts in which microneedling devices are used on the skin, e.g. transdermal drug delivery, vaccination, etc.

>It is a technique for which research is ongoing but has been used for a number of skin problems including scarring and acne.[1]

Please share your experiences

I'm desperate because I have hyperpigmentation on my forehead that just won't go away and maybe this may help in time

Did anyone use it to treat hyperpigmentation/acne scars?

I've dermarolled, but I was too inconsistent and stopped out of forgetfulness.

Some tips I did pick up, however:

-You don't have to PRESS the needles in your skin; if you bleed, you're pressing too hard
-Don't do it daily because it could actually increase the chances of scarring; 2-3 times a week
-Make sure you go in multiple directions over the area: up, down, diagonal, etc.

Not op, but wondering if there's a difference between going to a specialist derma to do it vs doing the procedure myself. It's like 150 more for a derma

uh, duh? it´s like asking if there´s a difference between cutting your hair at a barbershop or doing it yourself.
the specialist will know what to do, how hard to press, which areas to go over, etc

that being said, if you really don´t wanna spend the bucks i´d go there at least once so you know what areas to cover and how hard to press

You are wrong I think

There are several sources online that state that you should only use it once in every 4 weeks or so

That is, when you are applying the 1.0mm needles which is what's supposed to help when treating hyperpigmentation

If you do it too often you could damage your skin, it needs to heal in the meantime

They're pretty cheap on eBay. I'm using one currently. Every other day, gently and after that I apply a 100% snail serum gel, works pretty well.

Well, that could be right -- been a while since I've done it.

I generally heard less is more, anyway.

How is repeatedly stabbing yourself with sterile needle going to improve your skin again?
