34, maybe even 36 is acceptable if you're really tall or have a robust bone structure/have a 'gym butt'.

44 is just really huge. I don't see it looking good.
I mean I have a 31" waist and am 172cm (5'6), and sometimes I feel bulky as well. If I was 44 I'd be a freaking balloon, a dwarf balloon.

2. Don't eat simple carbs like candy, ice cream, potato chips, french fries, hamburger buns
3. Do eat complex low energy, high nutrition carbs like salad, lettuce, tomato, cucumber

5. Your body fat will drop without any excercise at all, and you realize dropping body fat is 99% about eating and 1% or less about excercise
Also remember dropping weight is not the same as dropping bodyfat. You can lose weight by eating pure sugar but you'll look like a deformed skinnyfat quasimodo since you'll also lose muscle mass.
If you want to retain muscle mass and just lose body fat, you have to eat plenty of protein and very little to no simple carbs like sugar.
Most people can't do this, they're addicted to sugar, and they look fat because of it.
Anyone can build muscle mass or lose weight, but losing body fat is the biggest struggle of them all because people just can't give up their breads, croissants, sugary lattes, sodas and other simple carb crap
