Also I usually go with ankle socks that go with the sandal colour, I personally prefer socks over bare feet as long as it isn't a white sock with black sandals or something ridiculous like that

I believe the meme that socks and sandals are a no. I will never wear socks and sandals unless given evidence it doesn't look sleazy.
im a guy, and ive always been tempted to wear sandals or open toe footwear, but it simply never looks right. ive always operated under the principle that the only time a man should wear sandals is at the beach. why do birks look decent on women but seem to look terrible on men? same with flip flops, tevas, and any open toe shoes. i guess its just that womens feet are smaller and cuter. mens feet look oafish and disgusting
