They will definitely leave you better off. I don't think a buzz would help out all that well since its more like you need hair then less of it. Not sure if just big forehead or your hair line edges really go that far back at that angle or maybe you cut it like that by mistake.
I'd say the safest bet it is to not have the guy touch the top and just do the fade for the sides if that's what you were looking for and the shape up. Your side burns really need it since they don't look currently even.
If you feel the top looks stupid you can buzz it yourself. I don't think you can get that wrong. Just make sure you figure out what number the sides get cut with so you can take care of the top later.
