Very few people can pull off cowboy hats in formal wear, without looking "cowboyish". I'm from TX and wear my Stetson often, but even formally there's always gonna be that Western twang.
The biggest factors really are where you're located, confidence level, and not trying too hard. If you feel like you shouldn't be wearing a hat, you're gonna stick out like a sore thumb. Gotta walk around with a fat swinging dick level of confidence and you'll be off to an excellent start.

That is actually a cowboy hat, just not the traditional "cattleman" style everyone thinks of. The style that faggot is wearing is a buckaroo. Pretty old school, but a lot of actual cowboys still wear them.

Down here in Texas I see plenty of ranchers use them. Hell, I've worn one a time or two, they work great at what they're for.
If you know western hats though, it's pretty common knowledge different regions have different needs/trends.

Living in TX, seriously only migrant workers, ranchers, and rich "old boys club" oilers wear cowboy hats.
That said, if you live in a place like West Texas, a lot of peeps wear the hat just because of mah heritage.
