20s < 30s
>>10964871
I will admit 30's fashion is 'prettier' and more flattering but 20's fashion somehow strikes me as more modern comparatively. I don't know what image did it but I remember being surprised at how chic the outfit looked.
I especially like it for autumn/winter looks, the basic silhouette is simple and wearable, in large part because the public at large is only familiar with party and summer fashions of the time period. I think a softer, more natural waistline and higher hemlengths could make it look more modern
>>10964897
more flappers in pants in case the anon from the last thread is still around
alternately folk dress has lots of interesting elements, unfortunately it can be hard to take inspiration from them because people are no longer used to so many layers or wearing dresses.
That said the embroidery is pretty, I can see minimalism falling out of fashion in favor of more decorative elements.

You guys should watch this show called "Million Dollar American Princesses" on the smithsonian channel. Shit's cash cause they follow the history of some influential women from the 1900s-1940s, amazing insight into the ideology and fashion of the time.
pic related, "the poor little rich girl" Barbara Hutton

we getting old school in here?
>>10964924
Thanks anon, sounds like a good time
her hair is amazing btw
>>10964927
The only thing that sucks is I see some amazing photography/film but since it's on the TV I can't bother to screencap it!
>>10964926
its something different at least
Any idea where hair might trend next? I'd swear we haven't seen major differences in popular hair cuts/styles compared against the last decade. Sleek, straight hair isn't as popular as before but it seems like women are still committed to unstructured 'beachy-waves' as ever. The only notable trends I can think of relate to hair color (ombre, streaks, grey hair, etc).
always liked this dior look from 1940s , although I like balenciaga more
Am I the only one who finds more inspo in these threads as a male who doesn't dress effeminately than the regular inspo threads
>>10964952
hmmm, desu I am not sure. Fashion/styles cycle, we all know that.
That said I'm feeling the late 80s/90s will come back hard (if they haven't already)
>>10964974
Maybe perms will come back
I don't know if you've heard about Olaplex but its this new salon treatment that is supposed to be crazy good that works by restructuring the hair's protein bonds, hence its been getting popular for bleaching. It could breathe new life into perms though, they have a well deserved reputation for frying your hair but Olaplex purportedly yields good results.
For the first time I might lighten my hair myself.
>>10964969
Inspiration comes from everywhere and anywhere.
I'm a guy and I love female fashion (as male oriented shit doesn't gravitate that from from "norm")
I think it's because I was always artistically inclined, so a silhouette is a silhouette, regardless if it is a male or female.
A lot of this stuff can be translated back and forth, it's just up to the person if they are personifying who they want to fulfill.
That said, there are obviously VERY feminine features for these pictures, but that doesn't mean it can't be translated into a male perspective.
>>10964974
shitty 80s bangs are a huge deal. go to any twee pop concert in the city there's a sea of badly dyed, uneven liberal arts school bangs and thrift store outfits. anyone know what this particular subculture is called?
>>10965006
hehe, good thing I don't go to any twee pop concerts like you anon ;)
>>10964990
its easier for us girls to wear man clothes than the other way around. that said, any particular aesthetic is universal, regardless of gender
1. terrible thread, terrible posts
2. >not wearing dresses everyday even tho you could
>>10965042
how to live knowing i will never own this?
>>10964689
*fangirls*
>>10965014
That's true but even so, I hope guys here on /fa/ understand that even if the cut of particular piece isn't for them, the color composition is key.
And honestly, Rick Owens has been popular on here for 5+ years plus, and his silhouettes can be seen as VERY gender neutral.
Also I appreciate the actual conversation we're having here, sometimes I think /fa/ is too vain to save
>>10964917
I could see it coming back in europe, as a new nationalisitc conciousness and conservativism slowly emerges. especially in eastern european countries like poland. people 'going back to their roots' and being all 'muh heritage' just everywhere.

God the male wardrobe can be boring.
