Parkas are a huge compromise on looks in exchange for being warm and toasty when it's zero degrees and blowing rain. Canada goose and other high end brands at least try to slim the outline and break up the massive walls of material a little bit. The real style point of a parka is how the hood frames your face when it's not up.

There's a reason Edward, Loki and now Kylo Ren are popular among Tumblr goth-lites. Notice what they reblog in terms of men's fashion. Keep an eye on the types of bishonens they like and plan accordingly.
Then find the hashtags they visit and put as many in each black-and white photo as possible. If you look good they'll start to notice.

The glass kind of shattered for me a good while ago at how over used they are and I've grown to hate them more and more over the years.

It was below zero and blowing in Boston last weekend. I saw people in peacoats with scarves piled up to their eyeballs and they still looked uncomfortable. People in nice parkas, myself included, were comfy, even walking head-on into 15mph wind with snow coming down. Being uncomfortable for the sake of fashion is silly and doesn't actually look good when you're shivering uncontrollably.

The fur creates turbulence at the end of the hood when the hood is up and drawn tight that helps hold warm air in and keep wind out. It does the same thing to a lesser extent when the hood is down and just protecting your neck.
