Are Leather wallets really the best kind of wallets?
>>
>>10955689
Yes, I can't even think of anything that comes close
>>
>>10955689
Yes. Non-leather = less durable, more childish. Most broadly speaking.
>>
>>10955689
Why you would even start to consider another material is beyond me, m8
>>
In that case, what is the best leather wallet?
>>
>>10955762
Briefing uses ripstop nylon those wallets could survive a bomb blast
>>
>>10955913

Anything handmade will be best. A lot of the leather wallets sold in shops won't stand up to the test of time. Give the stitching a good tug and see if you feel any give.

I've had my Fossil bi-fold leather wallet for going on 7 years now and it's as good as when I got it. Re-did part of the stitching last year, but it's been fine apart from that. Just don't overload your wallet it'll last
>>
>>10955943
those are great
I like my Bellroy wallet...the leather is thin so it's comfortable in my pocket
>>
>>10955913
kangaroo or shell cordovan imo
>>
>>10955913
I've had my Comme Des Garçons zip wallet for two years and it has no signs of any breakage or negative ageing
>>
>>10956109

Bellroy makes some decent wallets if you are looking for an aesthetic minimalist design and a slim profile. My Notesleeve fully packed (7 cards + assorted bills) is about as thick as any other wallet I owned completely empty. Quality stuff, nice color options too.

I just carry a passport with a credit card money-clipped to it. I don't carry cash. Passport fits in the front pocket, very low risk of it being jacked.

i have this. ashland leather johnny the fox. it's p. nice and made of chromexcel so it's built like a tank and great value for the money

too bad i accidentally rested my fountain pen (tips) against an edge and it drank up a bunch of ink
>>
>>10959514
wouldnt it mean that that isnt great in the rain?
>>
>>10959473
That's a surefire way to lose your entire life in 1 drunken mistake.
>>
>>10959520
na, chromexcel is pretty water resistant. it's pumped full of oils which gives it that "pullup" quality, i.e. the leather gets lighter when stretched

>>10959473
why do you need to carry a passport around everywhere?
>>
>>10959744
Some countries require that foreigners carry proof of their right to be there.

In Japan, for example, you're technically required to either carry around your passport + visa or a gaijin card. I did neither, lol
>>
>>10959744
When I travel, I need to have my passport because my usual IDs aren't recognized. I spend 3-4 months of the year outside of my country
>>
head porter
>>
>>10959593
Well, to be fair, the passport is ripped, so it's technically invalid-- also, I never get drunk in public.
>>
>>10955689
>>10955762
>>10955780
agreed, leather wallets are the only kind of wallet you should have
>>
>>10955913
Got mine at the leather school in Florence. No issues whatsoever after three years of daily use, despite a relatively sophisticated weave pattern.
>>
>>10957883

LMAO
>>
Yes, and I'd love to find a new wallet that can easily flash ID (I am 26 now and still get asked for ID everywhere). I have a tri-fold DKNY wallet currently but she's beat up as fuck from being under my ass so many years.
>>
my girlfriend hand made me a leather wallet on our first valentines day when we were 16. I'm 25 this year and still using it, I intend to use it for the rest of my life
>>
>>10960924
>keeping your wallet in your backpocket
I never understood this.
>>
I have a kevlar wallet from a defunct company called civilian labs.
>>
>>10961297
it's more comfy than your front pocket, but only if you're not wearing low-rise pants that make your wallet sit below your ass so you sit on top of it
>>
>>10957580
>duct tape wallet

you have got to be joking me

>Not keeping it in the back pocket.

Never understood this. It looks weird when someone pulls out there wallet from the front.

A neckbeard friend of mine sewed pockets inside all his jackets and hoodies. Said it fucked up his back having anything in his pockets.

>>
>>10962623
I think that eternity of eating cheetos and jerking off is what fucked up his back
>>
>>10962623
>>10962751
Apparently combining always having a wallet in your back pocket and sitting a lot daily (i.e.a desk job + driving 1+ hour a day to work) can actually fuck up your back
>>
>>10963096
sure it will fatty
>>
>>10962649

w2c

also: always back pocket, unless i'm wearing a blazer/jacket. then it's in my left breast pocket.
>>
>>10955689
Yes, I admit there are better materials (sailcloth) but everything else looks tacky AF.
>>
>>10963096
bro, just
just bro
bro
take the wallet out of your pocket

>>
Tyvek wallets are interesting, but it really just depends on the design.

>>
>>10963763
If your phone fits this case does, it's not very thick either so
>>
Is there a specific type of leather that is best?
>>
>>10957883
probably a more honest translation:

you probably think I'm retarded.

but I'm really retarded.
>>
Guy I know has had the same wallet for ten years. It cost him a pretty penny but it's hand stitched cordovan, so i can see it lasting forever
>>
>>10965993
I've been considering getting a shell wallet but I just don't have the cash
