General acne treatment thread, plus a story. Using greentext for expedience.

> never super bad, but very obvious in a not overly revolting way (it's mostly just very splotchy red skin, very slight inflamed bumps, and a few tiny whiteheads)
> big enough deal to have it get pointed out occasionally, but never got called ugly and didn't have trouble with dating
> but what the acne lacked in severity, it made up for in resistance to treatment
> go through like nine different dermatologist-prescribed regimens, try all manner of antibiotics (in small enough doses that extended intake wouldn't cause damage like it can), special creams, gentle soaps, other stuff
> also make sure to do the basic stuff to keep your face and skin clean (drink water, wash face twice a day [with special creams and soaps!], never touch face, avoid grease like the plague)
> eventually start forgetting to take antibiotics because the location I chose for them in new apartment was bad and I kept convincing myself I'd start remembering
> in the past, lapses in taking antibiotics had caused major flare-ups
> still using nice soaps and creams in shower though, but those don't really prevent deeper issues causing acne
> but over time, despite never remembering my antibiotics, my acne starts to totally die down
> a month later and I have a few minor red blotches, and nothing else
Did I just outgrow acne? If so, why did it happen right around stopping the antibiotics? I haven't changed any of my habits significantly except that I'm getting LESS sleep than normal, so that couldn't be good. Could the antibiotics have started being counterproductive or sabotaging at some point?
