I think it's mostly because people are shallow and don't have the capacity to understand you. You're probably intelligent and opinionated and don't like mainstream shit anyway. Why try to fit in with them?
Reminds me of some kid I knew. . . super awkward fuck that had no social skills and would always say the most random shit at times (more inappropriate than random actually). I was nice and kept around him, but definitely gave me a IDGAF about the world vibe and felt like this dude was both super sheltered and super fake as fuck (had some weird superiority complex)
