What are your thoughts on a light brown/cognac oxfords/? Or should I go for a darker brown?

The cognac colour seems like it could work with a light gray suit too.

Go for darkest brown, it's way more versatile. Tan is literally orange colored and best for clowns. How often do you wear a light grey suit anyway.
