While you're right I hope you do get that what men and women find attractive is determined by evolution.
To keep it simple, men primarily judge a women based on the necessary and advantageous physical attributes for child baring and raising. Since that's all they really need from the partnership in order to successfully pass on their genes. That being said personality does play a part, men are more attracted to smiling women. Essentially women who look happy.
Women also take into account physical features, mainly to judge a potential mates health and ability to provide and protect. But its more important to find a partner who will care for her and their offspring. Women are inherently vulnerable and even more so with child so they look for safety and stability from men.
Neither is better or worse than the other, each is just as shallow. Just operating at different ends of the spectrum.

It's such a weird situation. We're in the same "preparing for uni"- thingy. She initiated contact after 6 months (this was like two weeks ago) (and I had been eyeing her since day 1) and now we study together almost every day and sit next to each other in class. She says I'm the only cool guy there, that I'm smart in a not-braggy way and have a nice smile.
On the other hand she asked to see my private instagram account, only to not accept my request for hers. And today I see she's no longer following me. I'm so confused.
To top it all off she's a muslim (no veil) that has never drunk alcohol in her life, and we'll most likely move to different cities next semester for Uni.

Had first serious relationship around 18 yo.
