No doubt there are companies that make better clothes, but Brooks Brothers destroys everything else at its price point. The brand is also a fairly attractive image to buy into for reasons that I could write a book about, but largely because it implies an eye for value and signals a well-off and practical person who is an "appropriate," (read neither intimidating nor sloppy, so you're kinda right about the nothing special in that way) level of concern for appearances.
