>>10860747
>not having a living accessory that cleans itself
I feel effay as fuck when I have my albino corn snake wrapped around my wrist or draped around my neck. Too bad I can't take him places with me ;-;

>cheap
Yeah Goliath bird eaters cost $700+ but common tarantulas are just $20 and if you buy a sling/baby tarantula they're only $5-$10 and as they grow they may cost 15x what you paid for meaning if you ever get rid of it because you're tired of them you don't lose money
>minimum care
Yes it's different from dogs and takes a little research but once you got it done you can feed them a cricket once or twice a month and they'll be fine, crickets are as cheap as 5 cents or you can breed your own as a side project
They don't make noises
They're fine at room temperature.
No poop/pee you need to worry about.
Take up little space.
Don't need attention.
>they're safe
A bite at worse will give you an awful fever for one or two days but nothing hospital bad. Besides I personally think they're not to play with. They're like fish. You feed me and watch them grow if you get experience cool take it out every now and then and take a picture of it on your arm or something it's not my thing but some tarantulas are more clam than others.
>they're edgy
Despite not being dangerous they have reputation / icon that they're dangerous or scary, it's fun to impress people with them, I may sound cocky but it's just a cool thing to discuss when someone is in my room for get first time, most people even if they're scared find it pretty cool.
>they're pretty
If you get into them there's different colors and types and what not, blue, orange, 3 inches or 12 inches. Tree tarantulas who web a lot or ground ones that make little caves
>they're more of a hobby than pet (like spiders)
I think it's an overall decent hobby, especially if you have 3-5 tarantulas and breed their food that's a chill hobby to take your mind off things every now and then, check how they're doing, some routine in your life, you learn and it's just cool overall

Reptiles are unloving, a dog is the only answer German shepherd or black lab.
Don't know, don't care. Personally I adore rabbits. They're shy, mischievous and anxious, like me.

Oh yeah, the only reason I got into tarantulas was because I loved snakes and wanted to breed my pets food but I hated the idea of rats/mice in my room. And so I just got a tarantula randomly when I went to go buy a ball python, I just thought I should wait on them and get s tarantula because it was only like $18 and it looked cool I had no idea of how to take care of it, I got home and did research and its 80% the same care a ball python needs, and I just liked it a lot, I decided to get 4 more, and scorpions and millipedes and my collection grew I've bred crickets and roaches for them and I think I'm ready for a ball python, I'd love a boa or reticulated Python in the future though, something that is 8-15 feet

Thanks, it's my favorite, got it a year ago at 3/4 in for $12, now it's 2.5 inches? How much do you think that costs? $30-$60?
