The only issue with gold is the price, in the US you're charged by weight and "craftsmanship / time effort" so something as simple as a thin 24 inch rope chain can go for $3600. Shit is stupid, but don't let that push you to wear something fake.
If you want to wear nice jewelry like that buy it on sale, most jewelers will have sales every month.
I think chains can be paired with anything and everything as long as they aren't obnoxious. I doubt anyone on /fa/ has enough to spare for a rapper tier gold chain though, so it probably won't be to excessive or obnoxious.

I wear two thinner chains at the same time, but under my shirt. And i also wear a (kind of big and gaudy) gold pinky ring. It makes plain outfits seem much more luxurious.
I recommend getting 18k...

Disagree 14k for something like a chain. Don't get 10k cause it's less than half gold, but 14k is still gold and it's very strong. You'll want your chain to be a bit durable

I have an 18" gold herringbone, its not too bad w the right outfit but othertimes it looks god awful gaudy. I also have another 18" gold chain with a small pendant on it which is much easier to pull off. I wear them both when i go to parties to impress bitches.
