Hi guys! its 2016 and its time to change my hairstyle. not me on the picture, but i have something very similar. mine is just much longer on top. i have now had this haircut for 2 years. so its getting boring. tips on how to change it, or hairstyle? im thinking bout doing a buzz cut?? :p

the key with "high fades" or "high and tights" are keeping this arch shaped (for lack of a better word) shape that leaves width on the side of the head, and make a proper 'weighty' appearance to the profile

notice where the red arrows point, there is an arch shape that gently raises above the ear, while, then touches back down even with almost the center eye-lide at the front of the head. This is the proper way to shape a fade.
ill try to find my examples, but its hard to articulate over the internet. Its a common mistake to make a rear downward slanting fade, above the center of eyelid, moving down and to the back below the ear. A good fade, that brings out the width of the head will have an arch shape over the ears

Anyone else think that only good looking manbun is the "full version", i.e hair from everywhere pulled back. In contrast to the usual one like OP's where sides and cut short and only hair from top is bunned (this way requires a lot shorter growing period and is easier to achieve obviously).

Just to clarify, the short sides-version is the one that requires minimal effort to grow, where as the full bun requires at least shoulder lenght hair because the hair from your lower back side has to be able to meet the hair just above your forehead and have left over to form a sturdy bun.

I cut hair as a side job, but like I said its hard to articulate the idea, and 100% of the time a photo and the customer speaking up will get you the haircut you want. I personally LOVE when I get pictures or input directly from the person, when they are describing what and how they want thier hair cut
so tl;dr: bring a photo and be explicit in explaining how you want it done. have it saved on your phonne, and actually describe the shape to them. Every barber will have their own "style" or method for cutting, so dont be afraid to say EXACTLY what you want, because at the end of the day, when I get done cutting, if youre happy, IM happy, because either way i get paid, if that makes sense, and i take pride in satisfaction from you.

Well, having considered it while I was gone, here's what I came up with:
You have a nice, natural curl to the hair on your head, and a good thickness. If I were you, I'd grow it out a bit, and get it cut by a barber. Discuss options with him/her, as they will likely have a good idea what works with curly hair.
Your beard is sorta interesting, but it's whispy, not very well defined and to be honest it just makes you look unclean and unkempt as it currently is. Lob it off, all of it, that'd be my choice, but if you want to make something out of it I'd invest in a beard trimmer if you don't have one already and really think about what it is you want to achieve by growing a beard. If you don't know what you're trying to achieve, it's a safe bet you're better off without it.
I don't know much about hair products, as my hair grows naturally they way I want it. Sorry.
I know this isn't much of an answer, but I hope it helped a smitch.

tip for applying shine pomade or regular pomade:
after you shower, or when your hair is damp, slightly towel dried, apply pomade starting from the front of the hair working backwards with fingertips. It's like the hairs of a brush, if i try to pull it back, it'll fall back to the front immediately. I usually use wax so it atleast got a bit of a "curve" to it. pic related
