They have like 50 different skate shoes, just pick one that looks nice and doesn't feel like shit. I have the GT pro model and it's held up way better than any of my Vans ever had.

Vans are nice as far as boardfeel goes but they're thin as fuck and the construction is iffy. I like them as beaters but for skating they get fucked up pretty quick. My Nikes have held up for way longer. Adidas seem nice too but they have this ankle support that I don't really like. I'd check out some Nike and Adidas shoes for yourself and see which is to your liking.

Got these for Christmas cause I needed just a normal everyday sneaker that looked good. It's all about what you wear them with though. If you wear them with skater-tier garbage you'll just look like a regular guy but if you wear them with some stuff that makes you look like you have at least some idea of fashion then they will work really well.
