It all started with skinny jeans I think. In 2006 or whatever, most clothes were baggy and then men wearing skinny jeans became a popular trend and it resulted in what we have today, everyone will tell you that slim fitting clothes is the way to be. Look at all conservative and mainstream fashion websites.
Personally I like my clothes to be a bit loose.
